1emerald1 Posted May 13, 2020 #1 Share Posted May 13, 2020 I see from the bridge cam that the Star is docked in Puerta Vallarta. I she there to repatriate crew?
TM Posted May 13, 2020 #2 Share Posted May 13, 2020 Most likely. Either that or stopping for a service call after having dropped off crew further south.
Papa Yoda Posted May 13, 2020 #3 Share Posted May 13, 2020 Star and Grand are in PV - having traveled south from Ensenada anchorage. Look at Grand's cam: I'd assume dropping crew since PV is not a decent fuel and provisions stop.
brisalta Posted May 13, 2020 #4 Share Posted May 13, 2020 I have been tracking them on marinetraffic.com. There is no next port shown. I would not be surprised if the Grand and the Star stay there for a while at anchor. I have seen smaller ships fuelled and provisioned at Puerto Vallarta. They could always go down the coast to Manzanillo for additional provisions as that is a major seaport.
Papa Yoda Posted May 14, 2020 #5 Share Posted May 14, 2020 Star now heading for Panama. Grand and Koningsdam at anchor off PV. Maybe a crew transfer will happen and then they head off. Oosterdam on her way in to PV.
Rare Hlitner Posted May 14, 2020 #6 Share Posted May 14, 2020 PV is an excellent port if the purpose is to drop off some crew members from Mexico and a few other countries in the region. The airport (PVR) is only a few minutes from the cruise port and still has multiple daily flights to several places. The US CDC really tied the hands of the cruise lines when they specified that crew members (even if healthy) were not to use commercial travel. Otherwise, it would have been relatively easy to send Mexican crew home via commercial flights to Mexico (which still continue). Hank
