Tom_n_Sara Posted May 14, 2020 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2020 After just taking time off from planning a cruise, we decided to book another. We tried to contact our consultant but was unable to so I am sure he no longer works for Royal. Are their consultants working now? Any experience or wisdom about it would be appreciated. bouhunter Posted May 14, 2020 #2 Share Posted May 14, 2020 "Cruise Consultant" is just their term for the phone reps. Anyone who answers the phone to book cruises is a "consultant".
Tom_n_Sara Posted May 14, 2020 Author #3 Share Posted May 14, 2020 We had 1 guy who kept up with us regularly and had helped us in the past. Thanks
CruisingHogFan Posted May 14, 2020 #4 Share Posted May 14, 2020 I’ve asked the last 2 times I booked if I could have their direct number or email because they were great to work with. Each said they were not allowed to do this and it’s just random when you call in?

I was assigned a cruise agent, who always took days or more to call back. She finally said they had some difficulties setting her up at home tech wise, but finally set up. Yours could have gone thru similar, but I've been having trouble too. This virus has everyone in knots. Apparently agents are moving to work from home, or at least some. not-enough-cruising Posted May 14, 2020 #7 Share Posted May 14, 2020 If you don’t want to handle your booking on your own, do yourself a favor and find a local reputable travel agent. I believe you’ll be much happier with that unbiased service as opposed to using a Royal Caribbean employee
Videoman05 Posted May 14, 2020 #8 Share Posted May 14, 2020 I was trying to talk to my cruise consultant and was told they are doing a week of training. They will be back next week.
Tom_n_Sara Posted May 15, 2020 Author #9 Share Posted May 15, 2020 Thanks to everyone who answered. I appreciate the info. I have already booked our cruise for next May on Allure. It will be good to be back on a ship.
Rare pasodancer Posted May 15, 2020 #10 Share Posted May 15, 2020 FYI: Had the same cruise consultant (RCI) for years now (just spoke to her yesterday). If she does not answer the phone when I call (her direct extension number), then she will get back to me the same day (have already spoken to her in evenings - no 9 to 5 hours for her). She has really been invaluable - doing rebookings, checking prices, etc. Once you get a decent consultant, keep them!
