GoNCruisnFamily Posted February 9, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 9, 2006 We are sailing on the Jewel on 2/19 with a stop at GSC. Do we need to book the snorkeling shore excursion if we already have our own equipment, or can we just get on and off the ship there and do 'our own thing'? Thanks for any info! Do your own thing - They do want you to wear a vest and will lend you one.
calmac Posted February 9, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 9, 2006 Do you have to pay for the "loan" of the vest?
Buford T Justiice Posted February 9, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 9, 2006 No charge for the vest
TrinaLC Posted February 9, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 9, 2006 You get the vests at a kiosk type thing to the left as you exit the ship. I'd go there first, the lines can build up. Then I'd head all the way to the right (back to the ship) to the smaller little beach. It is quieter.

2boyzmom Posted February 10, 2006 #7 Share Posted February 10, 2006 I've heard that there have been issues with "sand fleas" here. Is this true?
cdaystravel Posted February 10, 2006 #8 Share Posted February 10, 2006 They have all different size vests available. We had no sand flea issues and do not recall anyone complaining. I have been keeping an eye on Dawn and I do not remember reading any posting regarding that as well. We got over on the first tender; got our beach loungers (big demand) stayed 5 hours and got back on the ship early and explored while it was pretty empty! Have fun
