wandb Posted July 28, 2020 #2 Share Posted July 28, 2020 I could not locate the article, but would love to read it. Do you know anything about those who are losing their jobs? Crew from the riverboats? Office personnel? Do you think the August 2, 8, and 17th starting dates are realistic?
TinCan782 Posted July 29, 2020 #3 Share Posted July 29, 2020 "The American Queen Steamboat Company said in a Kentucky WARN notice that it will permanently lay off approximately 250 workers for two of its vessels, American Queen and American Empress. The first layoffs are slated to start by or near Sept. 24, according to the WARN notice." LDVinNC Posted July 29, 2020 #4 Share Posted July 29, 2020 Such a shame for all those employees. We are due to make a $2000 payment at the end of August for a trip next year. Guess we will have to make it or we will lose the $500 administrative fee. Just hope the company remains viable.

Latest from AQSC website (just click the bar at the top of the page) says earliest scheduled cruises are Aug 17 (Duchess) and Aug 23 (Countess), so the first two are not going to happen, and I'm kind of skeptical about the third date.
