Let's move in. I guess “big ships” is a relative term. There are plenty of 2,500- plus ships scheduled to call at Key West - some days more than one. 5,000-plus day trippers can really overwhelm that place. (I would reserve “small ship” for something well under 600 passengers; “mid-size” up to 2,000; “big” up to 3,000; “mega” up to 5,000 —- anything over 5,000 “absurd”.) Those that didn't need the toilet had to wait until the tour resumed. I have been on some small group tours where there were not enough stalls in the ladies room. My wife says that there are n ever enough stalls there. The guide told the ladies that they should just use the men's room. We didn't mind and neither did most but not all of the ladies.
