FCC- Confusion

I need something to look forward to lol booked a Nyc to Bermuda cruise for 2022 in august with my TA. I have around 4600 in future cruise credit to use but was told on the phone that the 4600 has to go towards the price of the room and nothing else. Is that accurate? i figured any left over money could be used as on onboard credit so i was shocked to hear this and unfortunately the most expensive room I could get without paying extra was 4200, so now I just have 400 floating around. Has this been FCC rule always been like that? thank you for help guys

I'm not sure if things have changed, but I was able to use mine for the gratuities on the drink and dining packages. From the questions asked, I think I could have used for the daily service charge also, but didn't have enough for that.

So, rather than getting random speculation from CC members, how about going to NCL's website.

What can the FCC be used for?

Any bonus FCC amount is applied only to the voyage fare. The original, full value FCC can be applied and used for the following:

• Voyage Fare
• NCFs
• Government Fees and Taxes
• Pre-paid service charges
• Beverage or dining gratuities (if part of the Free At Sea promotion selection)
• Air purchased through Norwegian Cruise Line
• Hotel purchased through Norwegian Cruise Line
• Cruise tours purchased through Norwegian Cruise Line
• Pre-booked and pre-paid shore excursions
• Transfers
• Essentials, Booksafe Standard or Platinum Travel Protection insurance (if purchased on the original suspended reservation)

Is there anything the FCC cannot be used for?

The FCC cannot be applied or used for the following:

• Amenities
• Dining/beverage packages that are not part of the Free At Sea program

• Onboard credit
• Water/soda packages
• Bottles of wine
• Bon voyage gifts and celebration packages

What happens if there is a difference in cruise fare between the future cruise credit (FCC) issued and the future booking?

If the cruise fare for the new booking exceeds the FCC’s value, guests will be responsible for the difference. Alternatively, if the new cruise fare is lower than the FCC’s value, a new FCC will be issued for the remaining balance.

We used our extra credits toward a second cruise, covered about 50% of the cost

So what I don't understand is that I took the FCC from My March 2020 cancelled trip and booked a May 2021 trip.  There is left over $ in my account under coupons and credits. But the exp date is 6/30/21 on those items.  Why is it June 2021 and not not 2022 since the FCC that I took  was in 2020 and good till 2022.

You just need to book by June 2021 (which is actually a short extension over what it was originally), as long as you sail by the end of 2022.
