I think at least the DR cruises will be canceled. I am booked on a Sept DR cruise but it’s just not selling. Alaska cruises are prime revenue makers and they need to sail at a full as is allowed capacity. I am geared for it to happen. We might rebook but not Alaska. I prefer warm tropical cruises

We also prefer warm tropical cruises, and are hopeful that our Sept DR cruise will not be cancelled. Gem is not a new ship, but I thought the desirable itinerary would still make it enticing. I will start looking for a replacement just in case...

I am curious how you know they are not selling?

You can look at the cruise do a test booking and see how many cabins are available but our PCC mentioned it when we booked a cruise on the Prima. He said it was disappointing because it was a good itinerary at a good price.

This week I booked a 5 day cruise on NCL Joy for September, 2022.  I wanted to book it for 2023 but the Future Cruise Certificate that i  expires the end of 2022 and that I have to use it by by then after being extended a couple of times due to previous bookings that I had that were cancelled by NCL.

What I like about this cruise is that I leave from NYC and can get there by driving to Albany, NY catching a bus that goes to the pier and will pick you up when you get back.  I was looking at a 7 day cruise but since I could not use my certificate it was suggested for me to take a 5 day cruise   and I did obtain some perks unlimited drinks but paying for the tips, $50 toward any NCL tour I take, I get one free dinner from NCL and I think 2 or 3 for being a Plat. Latitude member I think  minutes of internet.  I am taking my laptop but I may just take in ashore and go to a coffee shop or maybe a bar that has free internet.

I can not wait after having previous cruises cancelled and with resturants, bars, casinos, etc being closed and a little snow there was not much to do in Buffalo, NY

That is unfortunate.

My PCC called today to remind me of the vaccine requirement, and to let me know that the mask requirements had been loosened up. He also encouraged me to book Prima. I just haven't decided yet if I want to do one of the Bermuda trips or the Caribbean. I guess I will wait to see if we get cancelled before I book a new trip.

Those Alaska sailing in August and September are so expensive.

It was more expensive to be in an aft facing balcony on the Bliss than in the Haven on the Joy.
Haven on the Bliss is double what I paid for the Joy Haven.

I believe that the Royal cruises were likely cancelled due to weak demand to go on an old, outdated ship. Whereas, NCL has placed one of their newest in the fleet in Jamaica... I'm still placing my money on the Joy cruises happening...

Yes, I agree. Your cruise itinerary is so much better that the RCI's Vision OTS's. Fly to Bermuda expensively, stay in expensive hotel, cruise a couple of sea days, stop in Coco Cay a day and a half, Freeport stop during night for provisions, then 2 sea days back to Bermuda, right? Not appealing to the US citizens who can fly cheaper to Nassau to cruise on newer ship Adventure OTS to hit both stops as well as Cozumel.

Maybe NCL did a good move to homeport is places not as so expensive as Bermuda. Our loss ...

Baltimore Port to open ,, rumor that Bayonne could also open up. They usually go to Bermuda so could be reason to cancel home porting from Bermuda.

Interesting mix of opinions here.  I tend to think they will sail as scheduled since already mid May and there’s nothing definitive from the cdc.  I’m looking forward to being back on the gem as this was my last ship before Covid took over the world.  🤞🤞
