dadroy Posted June 3, 2021 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2021 We have never canceled a cruise, but on our Panama Canal cruise in late 2018 I got sick and ended up in the hospital for 13 days. Now we are booking a Ned cruise in June of 2023 and DW is concerned about if I cannot go or get sick on the ship again. So looking to buy trip insurance for the first time. My question is, if we do cancel, outside penalty period, do we get a refund for the insurance or is it once purchased premium earned.
Rare BirdTravels Posted June 3, 2021 #2 Share Posted June 3, 2021 If you are buying insurance from NCL, it is fully refunded prior to the penalty period. If you buy your own insurance, you need to talk to the people you are buying the policy from. NCL buys an insurance policy from a commercial insurer on your behalf. If you cancel within the penalty period, you file a claim with the insurance company. If the cancellation is for a covered reason, the insurance company will pay the claim. If the insurance company declines your claim, NCL will give you 75% of the cruise fare as a future cruise credit.
Rare All-ready2cruise Posted June 3, 2021 #3 Share Posted June 3, 2021 If you're getting NCL insurance, you don't pay for it until you pay for the cruise since it's included in your add on part of the payment.
sugcarol Posted June 3, 2021 #4 Share Posted June 3, 2021 It is just like car insurance. If you pay for coverage and don't have a claim they won't refund the premiums you paid just because you didn't have an accident.
