Rare mauibabes Posted June 30, 2021 #1 Share Posted June 30, 2021 ‘I am sure some of you will be happy and some 🤬🤬🤬. I was just on line trying to roll forward a deposit for a replacement cruise on Nautica in May 2023. We and all our friends refunds were made 6/29 so it was time to get out a new credit card. I had to laugh with my Specialist about the very fast turn around time for the refunds for a trip that was only cancelled a week ago. Good luck all, Bonnie and Gerry

bk travels Posted June 30, 2021 #3 Share Posted June 30, 2021 It's interesting that you mention your trip was canceled a week ago. May I ask how you found out? Someone on our roll call posted on 6/23 that they had received a cancellation email for our Jan 2022 itinerary from Oceania the previous day. I only found about the cancellation when I checked the roll call last night. Our TA was not notified by Oceania and neither were we. They are claiming they only canceled the sailing yesterday, but that doesn't fit with postings on the roll call. Regardless, our TA didn't find out about it until I asked her to call today. Our refund was already being processed! No promotions or discounts applicable to our canceled cruise will be honored on future bookings. That includes the onboard booking discount we received and the "guaranteed" lowest price until the date of sailing promise. In addition, while they left us wondering about the status, other options were quickly being filled. I understand the difficulties all cruise lines have faced and it doesn't shock me that our sailing was canceled. I am, however, stunned by the way this has been handled. I think the dithering around about Nautica's status and the failure to keep loyal customers updated is abysmal. There are so many things they could have done or said to ease the disappointment and keep us part of the O family. It's not what I would have expected from Oceania and I don't trust them going forward.
marieps Posted June 30, 2021 #4 Share Posted June 30, 2021 I posted elsewhere that my refund from Sirena's cancelled October TA came 30 days to the day of the cancellation. I was fine with that amount of time.
Beagle5 Posted June 30, 2021 #5 Share Posted June 30, 2021 We were advised (by our TA) that our 2nd Dec 21 Nautica sailing was cancelled on the 24th June and received our deposit back to our CC on the 28th June.
Rare mauibabes Posted July 1, 2021 Author #6 Share Posted July 1, 2021 BKTravels, I can’t speak to your specifics and I am sorry your notifications were not as timely as you and everyone else would have liked. All of the O staff I have talked to and worked with have bent over backwards to provide the best possible customer service. Between the Covid and world issues, along with slow vaccination roll outs throughout the world, IMHO we’re the major drivers for the quick cancellation decision for our Singapore to Istanbul cruise May 2022. We will see new Nautica itineraries in 3 weeks which will replace the April to June Nautica Cancellations. Perhaps one of these new itineraries will pique your interest and you could just roll your book forward. Good luck. Gerry
Tranquility Base Posted July 1, 2021 #7 Share Posted July 1, 2021 My guess. It would been obvious for quite a while that these cruises would not proceed. Oceania were able to do all the refund work over the last few weeks, and then it was a straight forward process to push the "pay out" button very soon after the official cancellation.

I would not be happy either. I hope that you will be able to find a replacement cruise soon. Happy sailing!
the mice Posted July 1, 2021 #9 Share Posted July 1, 2021 Nautica cruises from June 2022 onward are online already , even though O said they would be "coming soon." I wanted to see the Holy Land itinerary, but it really is a Greece-Turkey cruise that ends in Jerusalem (Haifa), the only port in Israel. Our cruise for March 8, 2022 was cancelled last week, but we have not had a refund posted . We paid the deposit onboard in June 2019 for a 2021 cruise, then moved it to the 2022 cruise at the beginning of March 2020 when COVID was really starting up. I expect we will get our deposit back within the month which is fine.

Oceania were able to do all the refund work over the last few weeks, and then it was a straight forward process to push the "pay out" button very soon after the official cancellation. Why would it have been obvious for awhile. The excuse that they are giving is that it is now time to refurbish the ship. The same ship that has not sailed in 1 1/2 years nut had people booked on itineraries from 10/21onwards. Seems dishonest for them to do this and make it seem as if this were a last minute decision. I don' t believe them. I called them on a refund for 11/12/21 sailing on Nautica and the customer representative said that it was already credited back to my credit card. This was over 1week ago. When I called the credit card company, they told me that there is no chargeback from Oceania Cruises that is pending. I really think that they mishandled the cancellation, especially for everyone who booked this with special promotions and discounts. One would think that they can identify these customers and as a good will gesture, extend those benefits to a new booking. Guess that's not important to Oceania. Oh well.
