Well, we went ahead and held two cabins for now.  Best we can do is interior cabins together. I never had an interior.  So, going from two balconies together on the MG ship to two interior cabins - still have to pay an additional $1600 to switch.  Would pay a hefty price for a downgrade.  But we will have $1600 OBC now so there is a sunny side of things.  LOL!

I’m sure it will be very different than the balcony room you were expecting, but one plus for interior rooms is that they are pitch black so naps are fantastic!

I paid with gift cards for the piddly 10% which I wish I hadn't done but I booked pre COVID-19.so a refund is not in my future .I just want to take my cruise and wash my hands of it all. I got other things to do with my life.

If you pay with gift cards, you dont get a refund?  Is this true with all lines or just Carnival?

Thank You

That's not what they are saying.

Carnival will give you a refund, in gift cards. Same currency you paid with. They want to use them up and move on.

Sorry to hear that you have to downgrade and pay more money. I've stayed in interior cabins before and the hardest thing for me was not being able to see natural light.  But we could turn on the TV to the station that shows a live outside view.  We also brought a back lit battery powered clock.  We do have a balcony for our MG cruise, but if all I could get was an inside, I would take it.  At least you have a huge OBC.  That's a nice credit to spend on the ship!

Got a balcony and one inside cabin across for the kiddos and grandma.  Wife and I will take the balcony.  Was looking forward to have two balconies again and open them up for a large balcony but it is what it is.  Have to pay $1100 more actually so around $8200 for a cruise for 6 people.  Never thought I would ever pay that for a cruise.  My very first cruise in 2009 was around $200.

I've never had a $200 cruise, not even in 2009, casino rate? Hurricane?

Cruises used to be more expensive and had better food, more services. Carnival had cabins with no solo supplements. Always changes. During covid prices were extra low, but carnival didnt price protect to rebook, gave obc. I sure didnt want to keep rebooking. I liked covid prices. I'm booked solid.

It was during hurricane season and it was just a 5 day on the Ecstasy out of Galveston.  Early September so low rates.  I got an interline airline employee rate.  Those rates are great and the reason I went on my first cruise.  Met my wife on that cruise so thankful for that.

Yes, covid prices were good.  Originally paid around $5200 for two balconies on the MG for March 2021.  Then moved it --- Paid $6000 for two balcony cabins on the MG for Thanksgiving.  Couldn't pass that up. After changing it to March 2022, it has become over $7000 for a balcony and an interior on the MG but it is what it is.  Tired of moving cruises.  Keeps getting pricier.  Wallet is on fire.
