doug52 Posted July 15, 2021 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2021 French Polynesia has now joined Greece allowing independent excursions at the various ports, see below from their Website: Exceptions where guests are allowed ashore to explore on their own: Greece and French Polynesia/Tahiti. Now, can start looking into private excursions for our upcoming trip in October. Just hope this doesn't change back. Doug
Rare NMTraveller Posted July 16, 2021 #2 Share Posted July 16, 2021 This is good news. We have a Christmas cruise coming up.
Rare amandas friend Posted July 17, 2021 #3 Share Posted July 17, 2021 That’s great news. We are on Star Breeze in September. We are flying to Papaetee the day before, arriving at about 10pm. With all the news stories about flight cancellations, I’m wondering if Air Tahiti Nui is pretty good on not cancelling. If it’s questionable, should I arrive a day earlier than planned. Thanks for any help.
doug52 Posted July 17, 2021 Author #4 Share Posted July 17, 2021 We are arriving two nights before our cruise and taking the ferry over to Moorea to stay. Its not a bad idea to get in early. Not sure about ATN's history, we took it once before and it was fine.
Psychler Posted September 9, 2021 #5 Share Posted September 9, 2021 Nope, not any more. Just spoke with Windstar, and now we MUST be booked on an excursion to leave the ship. Once again, we are forced to do Windstar’s excursions and are prohibited from doing anything on our own. It’s good for their profit margins, I guess, but is a dealbreaker for many of us. HuliHuli Posted September 9, 2021 #6 Share Posted September 9, 2021 With all of French Polynesia closed to cruises this seems like a moot point.
doug52 Posted September 9, 2021 Author #7 Share Posted September 9, 2021 Agree, I cancelled our October cruise last month and got a full refund. Will look to do this cruise again sometime in the future...
susiesan Posted September 10, 2021 #8 Share Posted September 10, 2021 Was going to try for a Oct.-Dec. 7 day Tahiti cruise if they are sailing, but that's off the table now. I don't do ship excursions. I will go to the Caribbean for a cruise instead.
