This week we are just working a few days and using our 4 free wifi days so it will be spaced out a little more 🙂 I am hoping to get a chance to load some stuff I have missed once I am done work for the day. Hey - you are on holiday! Just was a wee bit concerned that something happened to you - not to worry. Cheers, Canuck

barbeyg Posted August 31, 2021 #305 Share Posted August 31, 2021 Question on the wifi and working remotely, if you don't mind. 🙂 How was your access working remotely? Was it a good signal or was it difficult to work with? Was the speed sufficient, or was it lacking? Thanks. 👍
Rare colesc15 Posted August 31, 2021 #306 Share Posted August 31, 2021 @JessyCruisescan you confirm if the food at giovanni's wine bar is included with the unlimited dining package? It looks a la carte so hard to say if the food would be included.

It allows me to connect to my VPN without issues and I can access all of my work programs without noticeable lag. Paul does a lot of video and phone calls and he definitely needs surf and stream. He said there have been a few times where he has had a bit of lag but normally is is fine. I had our weekly call with my team last week (audio over Teams) and none of them could tell the difference between the call and what I normally sound like. Rare JessyCruises Posted September 1, 2021 Author #310 Share Posted September 1, 2021 (edited) These are the MDR menus from the 6 night sailing starting 8/22 and the food pics I remembered to grab. It is harder to get photos without the physical menus so I definitely recommend downloading the App and looking at them there. Rare JessyCruises Posted September 1, 2021 Author #311 Share Posted September 1, 2021 (edited) I have been ordering escargot on RCL ships since Oasis in November 2014 - when did they start serving it with a special fork? I don’t remember ever seeing this before… Edited September 1, 2021 by JessyCruises

Rare JessyCruises Posted September 1, 2021 Author #313 Share Posted September 1, 2021 IMG_3889.MOV IMG_3889.MOV We are on the Ultimate Dining Package for this second cruise and so far have eaten speciality for all lunch and dinners. As mentioned earlier, we are lunch at Giovannis on boarding day and we ordered too much food so we thought we would stay “light” and do Izumi for dinner. Portions everywhere on this ship are crazy 😂😂 The ultimate dining package gets you $35pp at Izumi which just so happens to be the Pric Fixed Menu pricing. This gets you the following PER PERSON: -miso soup -one appetizer -two large plates -dessert Or we could have ordered A La Carte There is no way we could have done 4 large plates - we could not eat it all as it was!! Paul opted for the Firecracker Shrimp Spring Rolls and said they were amazing! I got the miso which I failed to grav a photo of and the veg fried rice. Both delicious!! I got the snow crab California roll. Just okay but good for a wimp like me 🙂 paul got the chefs assorted sashimi and said it was amazing but the big winner was the baked snow crab and salmon - delicious!! No dessert for us - too full!!!
Rare JessyCruises Posted September 1, 2021 Author #314 Share Posted September 1, 2021 So apparently I can work all day and have no issues with the wifi, but God forbid I try to post some photos. I have no idea what those videos were supposed to be but I cannot delete them…

I'll be on Odyssey next April on a Trans Atlantic and trying to get an idea of whether we can do the ports on our own or will have to use Royal's excursions if we want to get off the ship. So many things can change in 6 - 7 months. Edited September 1, 2021 by ReneeFLL

We're getting off as you're getting on. We have the last Odyssey cruise out of FLL. 4-16 to 4-23 Yep, totally understand. I guess I should have clarified in my original post that I was simply curious how they were handling allowing people to get off the ship currently. Hopefully by the time we both sail things will be better across the board.
marchand28 Posted September 1, 2021 #317 Share Posted September 1, 2021 I’m enjoying this so much and can’t thank you enough for all the info. September 25 can’t get here soon enough. DH wanted me ask if the Giovanni’s menu was just for lunch? We have the UDP and he’s looking forward to the meatball.
relaxatsea Posted September 1, 2021 #318 Share Posted September 1, 2021 If you get a chance, could you please see if the outside smoking area on Deck 5, aft is starboard or port. On other Quantum class ships, it is starboard, but I just saw a YouTube video indicating it was port on Odyssey. We have booked a balcony cabin on Deck 6, port, and will try to change it if we are over the smoking section. Thanks so much in advance.

There is no surcharge for Izumis which is the sushi restaurant. On this ship the hibatchi is its own restaurant called Teppanyaki. There is a $10 surcharge there for dinner but we went for lunch yesterday and were not charged
Rare JessyCruises Posted September 2, 2021 Author #321 Share Posted September 2, 2021 (edited) On night one of the 8 night cruise, Paul got the munchies and we decided to head to Playmakers for snack. Once again our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. Paul ordered 24 chicken wings 12 BBQ and 12 mild and I wanted to stay light so I ordered some jalapeño poppers for us to share (did not get a pic) and what I thought would be a few onion rings. I may have underestimated the onion ring situation. Check out the corona bottle for perspective…. It was all very good!! We went to Wonderland for dinner night 2. We had never been before. I am kind of a picky eater but was able to find some things I liked. The experience was great but not sure I would visit again unless I was travelling with others that is wanted to.
