Can you drop off your carry ons when you board or do you have to lug them around until cabins are opened?  Sailing on the Horizon Saturday.

Basically, you have to lug your carry-ons with you until you are able to gain access to your room.

Not if you’re platinum/diamond. My email specifically said I was allowed to drop my luggage off even though the room may not be ready. So dropped off I did. No problem.

Do you know for a fact that ejnsb is a plat or diamond?? If they were plat or diamond, I would think they would know, don't you think? It's a common question for those that are not. And congratulations on attaining that level of loyalty. I'm not, and I believe that ejnsb's question was a valid question.

Not sure why you would drag a carry on with you when you board. I understand why in some cases people would rather carry on when flying but not sure why when boarding the cruise. Just throw a luggage tag on it, hand it to the porter, tip him/her a couple bucks and go start your cruise. You will see your bag again soon enough.

Lmao no one said their question was invalid? Tone down the hostility bro. I was simply relating my experience with Carnival and boarding a ship. Sorry if that upsets you. Platinum and Diamonds are allowed to drop off their luggage upon embarkation. Simple as that. No invalidating, no disputing, no saying the TC is wrong. I’m simply telling my experience from July.

My meds are in it. My personal effects are in it. A spare set of socks and undies are always in my bag. (Experience from years of traveling.)

No worries, my friend. I enjoy a good exchange of words without it becoming a knock down-drag out fight. :classic_biggrin:

I carry my CPAP machine on in its case.  I also have a small carry-on with medications, iPad, charging cords, travel documents, etc.  Things I don’t want to be misplaced, lost or left behind in the terminal.

The last time I checked a bag with the Carnival, my suitcase was crushed.  They got their machine shop to straighten it back out enough I could fly home but that suitcase was toast.

That was also about the time I hit platinum.  So now that I can drop my bag off right away, even if the room isn't ready, I just pack light and only pack my carryon and a bookbag.  Makes self-debarkation a breeze too! 🙂

I agree. I pack light and use the laundry service. There is a huge difference in the way I pack now and my first cruise.

When I boarded the Miracle on 8/24, I asked whether I could drop my carry-on in my room (I’m Platinum.). The answer was yes, so I dropped the bags off.  The cabin steward was nearby and introduced himself and said my room was ready so go ahead and stay, unpack, etc.  So I did.  That was about Noon.  I think I just got lucky because they’re not supposed to let us stay after dropping off carry-ons.

We recently got off Mardi Gras, and the only bag we did not carry on, was a fairly new, medium sized bag (not especially full or heavy).  I'm not sure what happened, but when it was delivered to our room, one wheel was torn off and it had a tear approximately 3 inches long.  From now on, we will only carry on our luggage.

As mentioned, it is easy to quickly drop it by the room after we get on (we are platinum) and not have to worry about it getting damaged or lost.

(Plat/Diamond)If your cabin door is closed and your S&S was in your slot, you can stay.  That is the signal they are finished with your room,

Was on Breeze 7/29 and was able to drop off rolling carry-on and CPAP with no problem. They were still working on rooms, but we just asked very nicely and they said sure very nicely, and just asked that we put the items in the closet which we were happy to do. Took us 10 seconds and we were out of their way.

Then 1000 of your closest friends followed suit and cabins weren't ready until 5 pm.   The cabin stewards who are dependent on your goodwill, will never say no but they want to, very, very much.
