Plus, the inconsistency with pricing that @sid_9169 has pointed out! I don't know when you all started cruising but drink packages weren't around on main cruise lines until about 10-12 years ago. I started cruising pretty regularly in the late 90s and one cruise in the late 80s and I don't remember getting a drink package until summer 2010. I know everyone will have different thoughts about this but I really like the upgraded food and modern aesthetic/entertainment offerings. Cruise prices have dropped since I started cruising but so has the quality and quantity of what's included. It would be worth it to me to give this line a shot to just experience something like the golden days (for me) again.
E@syPe@zy Posted October 9, 2021 #1402 Share Posted October 9, 2021 I think it's hard to get an accurate feel for a cruise line right now with reduced capacity. I don't want to feel like I'm on a ghost ship for most of the day. I really enjoy seeing others have a good time in addition to having a good time myself. However, my first impression of VV is that it's a floating night club with excellent dining. I do think that it will evolve over time and find that balance that will be more appealing to a larger demographic. Time will tell, as they say. I did notice that some of the softer fabric furniture was already looking a little rumply and tired after so few cruises. Maybe in their interest of trying to make it look cool, they didn't calculate how much abuse furniture can get on a cruise. Also it looked like a lot of their sitting areas were made for lounging and slouching. I'm afraid a week on that ship my back would be destroyed even more than it already is now. Okay...maybe I am too old for a VV cruise!?!
CallistaSkye Posted October 9, 2021 #1403 Share Posted October 9, 2021 Like others have mentioned, the furniture looks like it's instagramable.. but not sustainable for public use long term. It's also kind of weird how different every area is. Nothing looks cohesive to me. Paying for drinks as you go doesn't bother me, that's how we do it because we don't drink enough to make a drink package worth it. So we just get the drink package for non alcoholic stuff or sodas, and then we buy whatever we want alcoholic. The internet seems nice. The food looks really good, but it also looks like it's for more adventerous eater type people. Like foodies type food, not normal people food. Which makes me a little hesitant. The ship is beautiful, but it somehow seems to be lacking in substance/soul somehow. I don't know how to explain it. Maybe it's because it's reduced capacity.
Rare broberts Posted October 9, 2021 #1404 Share Posted October 9, 2021 Every time I visit the VV web site I get offended seeing the term sailor applied to passengers. I can forgive trying to rename port and starboard, but passengers are not sailors and it grates everytime I see the term so misused. (Sorry for the rant)

I will tell you all when I return as I booked a back to back in a sea terrace and then a rockstar. I would be very interested in hearing your experiences and how they differ! Thank you 🙂

We took our Honeymoon on a Carnival ship in 2010 and I can almost guarantee there wasn’t a drink package because we would have done it.

I’ve been noticing that most of the furniture have small throw pillows all set up on a certain angle and color theme. I can’t imagine those pillows staying in decent shape once they’ve been tossed around and sat on or even when the ship is at capacity and those seating areas are actually being utilized. Just my two cents…. Edited October 9, 2021 by blarko

When I have a drink package, of course I drink more than I would if I didn’t have one. It’s nice not to worry about that bar bill at the end of the cruise but I also find that after about day 4 of a cruise, I slow way down on drinks and find myself getting drinks just to get my money’s worth out of my drink package. P.S……I hate that QR code stuff, I’d rather see an actual drink menu. I’m old 😂

Are all the tables large and involve sitting and cooking with strangers, or do they have some smaller options? When you book it, they'll tell you that smaller parties will probably be sat with others. It makes you "agree" to that prior to finishing the reservation. 6
Rare sid_9169 Posted October 9, 2021 Author #1411 Share Posted October 9, 2021 Up early since I crashed so prematurely... Strong black coffee in hand, I'm up on deck now mostly alone. All the loungers on the pool deck have been pre chogged... Actually, the crew are going around and putting a towel on every chair in anticipation of a crowd on our final day at sea.

Rare sid_9169 Posted October 9, 2021 Author #1417 Share Posted October 9, 2021 For perspective, the yoga area far aft is up top. I'm standing on the walking track one level down. Then, the aft bar and lounging area is directly below.
