That was certainly the intent and the original wording, to get people back to work (as long as they mask). It wasn’t intended for travel originally, but to supplement the coming worker shortage. But the language keeps changing and is a bit vague. Does anyone know what the airlines now ask upon boarding (e.g., “have you tested positive within the last X days?”)? It's frustrating…If I'm positive, literally nothing different will happen. Except there’ll be one less case for the ship to report. I’ve heard of other passengers who’ve attempted to get tested but haven’t been given one. Some passengers took self-tests on board and that’s how they discovered they were positive (had they discovered it off the ship, all quarantine/ travel change expenses would’ve been on them personally). Prayers for you and your child! Get well soon and safe travels. All the Best! Edited January 1, 2022 by syesmar

Five days and back in the game kid. They do ask that you don't have a fever but no one is checking. According to the CDC, if the hospital has staffing shortages they can even shorten the 5 days.

Since the new guidelines hinge on a masking component, I’m curious if RCCL gave instructions on dining once released. exactly, he is suppose to use a mask in front of other from day 5 to 10. Shouldn't be on a dining room with others 🙄
Jasukkie Posted January 1, 2022 #55 Share Posted January 1, 2022 Symptoms need to be resolving, not gone altogether. Fever is the key. Of course, taking something for the headaches and aches and pains may suppress the fever. Being practical here...very few people are going to incur $1000 in hotels, meals, etc. because they're on day six and still kinda sorta feel crappy. They're going to board that plane home. Certainly there are others in the TSA line and on the plane and at your grocery store who are in a contagious state too. So keep your N95 mask on nice and tight, or sit things out for awhile. 4

Razryn Posted January 2, 2022 Author #57 Share Posted January 2, 2022 Just about to check in to my flight but am stuck since they ask if the person has tested positive or been in contact with anyone positive in 10 days. So I’m no longer RCCL’s responsibility since their policy is 5 days, but I can’t fly home because airline policies are 10 days. Not sure what to do now.

Tell Royal now that you won’t be allowed to take your flight home! You’re still on the ship so you’re still their problem! They need to pay for a private plane to get you home! And maybe a day or so in a hotel until that private flight occurs! I am so outraged at all of this for you! 4

I am so outraged at all of this for you! Thank you for the support!! 🙂 it’s been a really hard week. I haven’t cruised that often and to be honest I’m a bit younger and haven’t traveled much so don’t have much life experience yet. it’s the last day of my cruise, but late at night and the regular guest services folks doesn’t know much. The managers that have handled the Covid issues are all off duty now and can’t get anyone to answer the phone. disembarkation instructions have been messy. I got tags as normal. Housekeeping rolled by earlier to collect the quarantine luggage but I said it was down with the boyfriend. I said he hadn’t gotten tags or anything and they didn’t know when he would be getting off. I had previously been told they would be last, around 10AM. When housekeeping came tonight they said usually they are last but they heard they might be off the ship first tomorrow. As usual, nothing was stated with certainty.

Even if further quarantine days are no longer required, you’re not allowed to fly on your airline. So Royal needs to get you home! I wouldn't wait till morning. You are on a ship. There is no reason someone cannot find the appropriate person to deal with your problem tonight. Certainly the COVID handling staff have not gotten off the ship. I would advise against sympathizing with how tired they might be, how complicated things are, etc.

I think that the airlines have updated their rules in line with the CDC recommendations. Since you do not have symptoms and your boyfriend tested positive more than 5 days ago you should be good to go. As long as neither of you have symptoms. Have you checked your airlines web sites for their checklist? I just checked United for example and found the following concerning their ready to fly checklist Health requirements: You have not tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 5 days3 and are not awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test. You have reviewed CDC guidelines1 on the quarantine requirements and symptoms of COVID-19 and you do not have any symptoms. JetBlue also now says 5 days so I expect all US domestic carriers have updated to the new guidance. Edited January 2, 2022 by nocl

I’m flying American and they unfortunately have not updated their language for check in yet. went down to guest services and was there for quite a while but given the time of night there’s nothing they can do until “shore side/management” re-opens tomorrow. Guess I will be up in 5 hours to try and get some more answers. My fear is that boyfriend will be escorted off the ship first thing in the morning before everything is resolved.
Rare broberts Posted January 2, 2022 #68 Share Posted January 2, 2022 For a 24x7, multi billion dollar international corporation it has always struck me as very strange that apparently there is never a duty person or two shore side to resolve passenger issues in a timely manner.

Razryn Posted January 2, 2022 Author #70 Share Posted January 2, 2022 Last night I was pushing for a letter from a medical professional that states he can fly since he’s been quarantined for 5 days (the nurse on duty told me guest services will have this) They did not and I even had them call the medical center while I was up there for the two of them to communicate and it ended with the guest services representative saying he doesn’t know what she’s talk about and they never do that. Today, boyfriend woke up with some test results today and no explanation. It was the results of Sars-CoV2, Flu A, Flu B, and RSV. Then next to that list, a column with Normal Range range saying Negative for all 4. Then another column for Results which also say Negative for all 4. im very confused!!! Did they mix up his text results?? Then I called the Nurse and she says she was told he tested positive. He only tested once! How can there be conflicting data points for something as serious as this.

Razryn Posted January 2, 2022 Author #72 Share Posted January 2, 2022 Yeah they keep saying that but I haven’t revived any letter relating to clearing us for travel. Only letters related to RCCL. They just called him at 7:30AM to say that he’ll be leaving soon(around 15) . Even though his breakfast won’t even come until 8

Razryn Posted January 2, 2022 Author #75 Share Posted January 2, 2022 On hold with RCCLs emergency travel services now. No idea how long hold times are, I would imagine quite long. Not sure if I just stay on until I get through or just head to the airport and hope for the best
