Move up invitation to bid on a casino comped cruise?

I recently booked a veranda on the 2/20/2022 sailing of the Edge. It was a comped room through the Blue Chip Club which is the Celebrity casino program. Does anyone know if Move Up offers to bid are extended on comped cruises? I put my name and reservation on their “check your eligibility” page but didn’t get any information, just an error message.

So it would seem to me that a comped cruise would probably not qualify for Move Up.  In looking at pricing the  Move Up minimums have been $100- $200 less than the difference between what we paid and current price for the next higher category.  Maybe by trying to upgrade through Blue Chip Club would be more successful.

Unfortunately when you call for upgrades on a fully comped cruise the pricing GENERALLY doesn't work that way. The requested cabin is fully repriced using casino rates and the internal value of the comped cabin is applied as a reduction. So for example if the publicly available rate difference between an IV cabin and an Aquaclass cabin is $200 when you call for a cabin upgrade the offer price won't be $200 but probable closer to $800-$1000. You aren't given the full public value of the comped cabin, but the Blue Chip Club internal value of that comped cabin, which is usually only several hundred dollars. Now there MAY be some cabin inventory that BCC has in certain  cabin categories where they can offer you an class upgrade for less than $100/pp, but that is not assured and can and does change at any nmoment.

I suggest you call the Blue Chip Club.  For our Apex cruise back in November, I called and asked if there were any comped upgrades available, and the offer I got was just as kwokpot explained above.

However, we will be on the Edge Feb. 6th and I called about a week ago to ask the same thing.  We had a Infinite Veranda and I could have moved to a Sunset Veranda. However while the agent was trying to change it, someone else grabbed it so she asked if we would like to move to Concierge class.  That's what we did.

I saw there were quite a few cancellations for our cruise and thought maybe that was why we were able to move up.

I had the same issue, I emailed them and then all of a sudden it worked for me. I didn't end up bidding though, prices were a little rich for my blood. Here are the upgrade starting bids, from Aqua class on an M-Class ship for a 4 nighter:
SS: 750pp

CS: 1100pp

RS: 1200pp

I knew the casinos got a discount, but I had no idea it was that little. How much do you think the average balcony cabin costs them?

I’ve had to email the last two times to get Move Up access on comped cruises.  The minimum bid to move up to SS was $1200 on a 10 day.  I didn’t bid.

Thanks.  I was on the 5th Edge sailing after the restart, about two weeks before sailing I emailed them that I wasn't eligible and asked if there's anything they could do to become eligible.  They said if you enter your booking number and it doesn't work you're not eligible (not sure if they even looked into it) so it now sounds like they got this figured out with a manual fix.
