I guess I am slow on the uptake! You had to be tested 2 days prior to boarding and now you are being tested again?? I think I missed something.

Passengers on cruises 15 days or longer are currently tested at embarkation. If ya pass, you go to check-in where you show your passport, Covid shot record, and negative test results done within two days of embarkation.

Read our post from earlier today. We arrived to Port around 10:45 am, and were on board within an hour. The only real wait time was the 25 minutes awaiting our test results at pier   🙂

Yes I guess I did. I will be on the Regal next Saturday and no further testing is required.  Perhaps it is because the ship is transiting the Canal.

Yes, Full Panama Canal transits, Hawaii and cruises more than 14 days.  From the time we dropped off our luggage, to us walking into our stateroom took 65 minutes

We did the transit in January 2018 from LA to FL.

I think this will be our 8th or 9th time going through the canal.  And yes, it is always hot and humid!

We have done round-trips from LA (30 days) or Ft Lauderdale to LA.  The timing of this one worked for us.

That is fabulous! It is so nice to have a port like LA so convenient. We are about 2.5 hours from Seattle, but obviously, it is usually for Alaska itineraries. Yes, we are going AGAIN in September! But it will depart from Vancouver and offers many new ports for us.

Still sitting in port at 8:30pm. We were scheduled to leave at 4pm. Reasons stated were a medical emergency approx 5:30, and then a damaged lifeboat that needed repair.  Are we really going to leave this port??

It is now 9:15 pm and we are still at the dock.  Maybe we will just stay in San Pedro!  😄

On a good note, Reynaldo and Romeo in Vines are great!  Dinner in the MDR was also great.  Portions were what we were used to and it was very well prepared.  Service was outstanding.

The duo in the Wheelhouse are very good and we even danced a bit.

Hopefully, when we wake up in the morning, we will be out to sea???

This is good news about Reynaldo and Romeo and the food too!

Sounds like we are all on the same cruise! The crew have been great, not just nice, but good service, too. I had trouble with Medallion App trying to get our group of 8 some regular dinner reservations, and noticed once we boarded that many of the reservations had been changed (times and locations)- once we showed up at Boticelli's the waiter let us know we had our table, same time and same location, for the whole trip, just like the old fixed dining time. Some human must have seen what I had done (including attempting to set a standing reservation in the app) and that it had all been deleted by the app at least two times.

We watched part of the comedian's 9pm show, but left early for famous faces trivia.  The comedian is funny, but kind of stuck on depressing subjects like covid and his divorce, lol.

It's nice being able to have beverages delivered to the stateroom for free. I guess that's one covid change we can be thankful for. Oh and of course the fully smoke-free casino!

For those who had been asking about streaming thru your stateroom TV on previous threads, we were successful using a USB-C/HDMI cable via our Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphone.  We've accessed Netflix and Hulu so far with no buffering.

We could not get it to work via our Samsung tablet, probably need a newer tablet?

For all of you who love Princess Production shows....don't miss ROCK OPERA!  It was a amazing. Probably the best show I have seen on 15 cruises with Princess

Totally agree….I love this show. Saw it 3 times on our recent B2B.💜💕💜

It's good that you finally sailed after a 5+ hour delay. I suppose on this first full day, you are all watching the Super Bowl in the assorted bars.

I'll keep my 🤞 that Cartagena is a go as the previous sailing had to skip it in addition to Nicaragua.

For those following because they are sailing soon: here’s a quick update on procedures and such for our sailing:

Sip and cover is not being enforced, though I heard the Symphony band call Explorers the “Explorers sip and cover lounge.” Walking through the corridors I have heard some people get reminded to mask, same while my family member was leaving dinner.

The indoor and outdoor bar seating is closed, though some people occasionally sit at Calypso bar. The casino bar bartender told me the will open seating at the bars on the third day of sailing. This is after our first Covid tests are completed- same as previous sailing: half today, half tomorrow.

There are still no slot tournaments, but there are Texas hold-em tournaments twice a day ($50 sit-n-go).

Tonight I confirmed the secret Indian Cuisine menu with the head waiter and we will be doing that one night later this week!

We met some fellow Cruise Critics tonight, that was fun! We weren’t really on the look out for them, but we got spotted by my profile pic!

staff is very attentive and friendly on this sailing and so far we are having a blast!

Enjoying reading this.  We are going on Emerald 10 night Canal round-trip on March 23.  None of our 28 Princess cruises have been on Emerald!   I am VERY interested in how exactly cruising is working now, especially the mask situation.   None of our cruising friends want to go yet because of mask, so we are the guinea pigs for our friends.  Noticed that in the picture some had masks and some didn't....

On the dance floor in the Explorers Lounge and the Wheelhouse it has been about 50/50 mask wearing.

This morning in the Fitness Center, the Attendant walked around asking those not wearing masks to mask up.

We are on the following cruise, the Circle Caribbean, and we were wondering if anyone on board now has heard what the passenger head count is on your current cruise?  Thanks so much and smooth sailing!

Per the Captain's Circle Host...   1,650 passengers. The previous leg had 1,600.   🙂
