Thank you! We made the mistake of sailing on the Sunshine over spring break in 2016 and I can confirm we never want to step foot on that ship again. It was a crowded nightmare.

Watching Holland America Nieuw Amsterdam pull away from Amber Cove ahead of us. The view from the Grand Scenic Oceanview room is nothing short of amazing. I now prefer this room over any type of balcony, including the aft extended balcony I had on Horizon a few years ago.

Vintage Pop was the Playlist Productions show upon departure from Amber Cove. The best way to describe it is "unique." The show blends songs and styles of the 1920s with new music from the 2010s and 2020s. I'm not sure if it is one I would be in a hurry to repeat, but I did appreciate the live music of the Sunrise Band incorporated into the show.

The downside to using the Sunrise Band in the Playlist Productions show is that it left the vocalists from the band performing in the Red Frog Pub with only an acoustic guitar. The result was underwhelming compared to seeing the same group perform with the full band in Red Frog.

Since the Super Bowl fell on our Sea Day and Valentines Day was the following day, Carnival flip-flopped the MDR menus and Elegant Night. Unfortunately, I forgot to screen shot the menus.

Blackened Pork Tart was delicious! I highly recommend this appetizer. It is on the first formal night menu on the 7-and-8-night cruises as well.

Shrimp Cocktail

Spaghetti Carbonara. I'm not sure this item belongs on the Elegant Night menu. GF said it was just okay.

Grilled shrimp with lemon cream sauce and mixed vegetables. I preferred the old version of this dish without the cream sauce and with the mustard potatoes instead of the mixed vegetables.

Creme Brulee. They've removed the berries from the top. Otherwise, good as always.

GF had the warm chocolate melting cake.

If you try one of the frozen cocktails at Margaritaville, we both recommend the Electric Lemonade. It was not as expected, but very good.

It is worth noting that the area closest to the pier and Margaritaville has hundreds of free lounge chairs, as well as a roped and buoyed swimming area. If you travel further down the beach to where there are different colors of umbrellas and lounge chairs, you will be charged for the chair and umbrella. Many of the chairs in this section of the beach appear to be old cruise line loungers that were spray painted by their new owners. I'd personally stick to the free area.

I was disappointed to see drug deals and a lot of marijuana smoking in the area of the beach controlled by the cruise terminal. The dealers are easy to spot with their fanny packs slung across their chest. Security was present, but seem to be friends with the dealers. One of the security guards stopped by for a chat and a fist bump with one of the dealers. I wouldn't say that it felt like an unsafe area, only that you're likely to smell the pot smokers at least once while you're lounging on the otherwise beautiful beach.
