rbdavis3951 Posted February 10, 2022 #1 Share Posted February 10, 2022 I was scheduled for a July 31, 2023 - August 4, 2023 cruise but received the following this morning: Dear Valued Guests and Travel Partners: On behalf of Norwegian Cruise Line, thank you very much for your loyalty and for making us your vacation of choice. We have important information regarding your upcoming sailing onboard Norwegian Sky. As a result of ship redeployment, all Norwegian Sky sailings from May 29, 2023 through and including December 29, 2023 have been canceled. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused . A full monetary refund of the fare paid will be automatically returned to the form of payment provided at the time of reservation . No further action is required; your refund will be automatically processed within 30 business days. You will see the refund returned to the original form of payment 7-10 business days from the processed date. The visibility of the funds is dependent on each financial institution’s internal policies. For those reservations paid via a previously issued Future Cruise Credit (FCC), 100% of the FCC used will be automatically re-applied to your Latitudes account. No further action is required; the FCC will be automatically added to the account within 7 days of the cancelation date. As we share your disappointment, we have issued a 10% discount in the form of a FCC. This credit can be used for up to one year from date of issue and can be applied towards any of our currently published sailings through December 31, 2023. The FCC will be available on February 21, 2022. If you are interested in selecting another sailing for your upcoming vacation, please contact us at 1-800-327-7030 or your travel professional. Guests residing outside of the US or Canada should visit www.ncl.com for local contact information. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and look forward to welcoming you aboard very soon . Sincerely, Katty Byrd Senior Vice President, Guest Services

Hmmm If she was a fleet exit one would assume they would have cancelled her 2024 schedule at the same time, which they did not. Most likely just going away from her predominately 3/4 day rotation and instead moving to longer sailings, or relocating to another port Re the previous post about Cuba. The Biden administration has made no indication that they intend to reopen tourism for US citizens to Cuba, so that's a non-starter.

rbdavis3951 Posted February 10, 2022 Author #9 Share Posted February 10, 2022 My FCC credit from the cancelled 2021 Norwegian Breakaway cruise that was used for this cruise is already back in my account. Supposedly by February 21st the 10% FCC for this trip will show up.
Rare mking8288 Posted February 10, 2022 #10 Share Posted February 10, 2022 Hmmm, not easy to speculate here. Early retirement for the Sky and modernize - with newer ships coming out of the shipyard and/or available cheaply, maybe from bankrupt World Dream (sister ships with design similar to the *away class) ... cut a deal with Genting HK, Ltd ?? NCL made a major investment in a full refurbishment and upgrade to the Sky in 2019. To my knowledge, the ship, although smaller and older than the new mega-ships, is currently in great shape and still has significant value relative to other 90s era ships. I suspect this is either a re-deployment, a major itinerary adjustment, or a sale to another cruise line.
