What are the best options for getting to and from the port in Miami?

Just back and forth with no hotels or anything?  Take a taxi.

Taxi fare is currently twenty eight dollars plus tip for one way travel. Always plenty of cabs available at MIA and the Port Of Miami for your return trip.

"Best" is a stretch limo with a stocked bar! 😎

 

Besides a taxi, Uber or Lyft are easy and will save you a few dollars.

I have found Uber to be very easy in Miami…never had to wait more than a few minutes

We take a cab from the airport to the hotel and subsequently to the port .... not always in best shape but available rather quickly. But, from the cruise port to MIA we use CATA car service .... never disappoints. Don't want to break the spell after a wonderful cruise.

How do you know when ordering Uber will it be big enough for 2 large suitcases?

UberX is typically a standard sedan - think Toyota Prius or Camry - that can accommodate 2-3 passengers and a couple of large bags in the trunk.  If you think you need more room, or have 3+ passengers you can opt for UberXL.  They also offer Uber Comfort, which is somewhere in between.  Once you make the booking the driver and vehicle info will be displayed - contact the driver if you think his car might be too small for your bags.

My kids pushed me to make the jump from taxis to Uber and Lyft several years ago, and I have just about given up on cabs since then - usually cheaper, always cleaner, and you know the cost up front! Download the app, watch a couple of You Tube videos, and take the plunge! 😎
