It depends on how much time you have and if you have other interests.

In Juneau, there is the Mildenhall glacier and whale watching, and the Roberts Tram.

In Skagway there is the train.

It also depends on the interests of the group you are with.  My niece was an early teen and really wanted to see the dog sled puppies, so we did that as well as gold panning, and a 40 below adventure.  I would say that the puppies were a bit smelly, but the gold panning was interesting.

In Skagway there is an excursion that goes by coach to Caribou Crossing Trading Post in the Yukon where you can pay to go on a dog cart pulled by Yukon huskies.  The coach then goes to Carcross and then to Fraser, B.C. where you take the train back to Skagway. It is an 8 hour or so excursion. I enjoyed it and the scenery was wonderful.

There are a couple of shorter excursions that also allow you to see huskies.

We're looking at booking (directly) Gold Rush Dog Sled Tours in Juneau...Lot's of good recommendations for this company. Our grand kids are gonna love it for our port stop this September.

If you do that you will miss the opportunity to see the Mendenhall Glacier.

Have the grand children seen the glacier?

Yes...but as I said, this trip we're doing a couple things that we haven't done before and the sled dog camp will be one of them.

My first response was aimed at the OP's question...again thanks for your input.
