Has anyone done this tour thru RCCL? Is it worth the $84.00. I've checked reviews and results are mixed. How far is the Backyard Rum Shack from the cruise port; maybe we'll just take a taxi over there? Thanks in advance for you help.

$84.00 per person to sample a range of 5 year old rums or less?  Or served equivalent to diluted moonshine as a rum punch.  Wow!
Maybe they’re throw in an overhyped plate of food, that may not amount to much.  Think the cruise line will possibly make 50/70%

Distance from cruise terminal is about a 30 minute walk or 5/6 minutes in a taxi.  Say a maximum fare of $20 for the whole taxi.

$84.00 in the St John’s Duty Free could get one (all English Harbour) 1 off 10 year (or 2 finish expressions) , plus 1 off special finish expression, plus 1 off 5 year.  Take back to the ship and have your own multiple daily tastings.

PS

Rum Shops can charge (tourists) $7/8 per shot of a basic rum, when a bottle costs $15 or less.

If you take the bottles back to the ship, you will get them taken for storage and returned to you on the last night of your cruise

Not on Cunard…… They treat guests as responsible adults……. And there.’s no limit

Same with Oceania.  You just have to drink it in your room.

Did this tour just after cruise reopening.

We were taken to an open air restaurant/shop where a very nice couple explains points about rum and there are chances for sampling.

A plate of food with a chicken leg, johnnycake, and maybe potato salad or some kind of accompaniment was included.

It was an enjoyable shorex (through NCL) for those not looking for the beach.
