Charleston port embarking time

Hello all. Will be departing on the Sunshine on April 7. Because of the price of gas going up daily  thinking about taking Amtrak. How early cam you walk off the the ship. Train leaves Charleston station at 9:00 am is it do able..

Charleston station is 10-15 minute drive into North Charleston from the pier.

9 AM navigating downtown during rush hour is probably pushing it. (at least once you get clear of downtown, the statiom is in the opposite direction of traffic.)

It would be a reverse commute, so traffic probably not awful. We’ve been off the ship by 7:30 am and if you have your luggage and call Uber promptly you should be ok but by no means a slam dunk. 
 

OTOH Amtrak trains are notoriously late, often by hours. Look up the operating history of your specific route. 
 

And plan a fall back …

I was off the Sunshine by 6:45 AM this morning...wife is Platinum so we were allowed first chance to exit.

If you can get off the Sunshine before 8AM you should be fine to get to the Amtrak station. (don't know if trains require any kind of early check-in like airlines)

But definitely have a plan B.
