LTCOP Posted March 13, 2022 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2022 On board the Wind Surf this week out of St. Maarten! St. Maarten dropped masks as of 6:00 pm on Friday and no masks required on board! The ship looks great and the crew are the usual wonderful!!! 140 or so guests on board. We were to be in Falmouth Harbor today - but due to swells we are in St. John - but still in Antigua. Did a ship tour to Valley Church Beach - just gorgeous! Had a quiet breakfast by the pool.
neverlaysup Posted March 13, 2022 #2 Share Posted March 13, 2022 Can't wait to join the ship for our two week voyage on Saturday. How did check in at the dock go?
LTCOP Posted March 14, 2022 Author #3 Share Posted March 14, 2022 Very smooth. It is all done on board. You sit down with the doctor who looks over your test results and records your vaccinations. Then another person gives you the Covid test and then you are on your way to finish check-in. Very organized. At sea today and the sails were up when we woke up. Good wind and a gentle rock and it is a perfect sea day!
HuliHuli Posted March 14, 2022 #4 Share Posted March 14, 2022 I am TOTALLY jealous @LTCOP. Yea I know I just returned from a short cruise on another line in the Bahamas where the weather was fabulous, but chasing grandsons is tiring! I think I need another week on Windstar. 🙃
LTCOP Posted March 16, 2022 Author #5 Share Posted March 16, 2022 We really enjoyed yesterday at Soper’s Hole. Out tour, unfortunately, was canceled due to low number, but we enjoyed a relaxing time at Pusser’s Landing sampling their version of a Painkiller. A really unique port to get to visit! And just gorgeous! The weather and temps was ideal. The Yacht Club party was extra nice with the chef preparing appetizers at the party and we were then served small plates. Nice touch! Stella Bistro and Candles alternate being open due to the smaller number of passengers. Deck BBQ was fantastic last night. Food has been delicious!
HuliHuli Posted March 17, 2022 #6 Share Posted March 17, 2022 Soper’s Hole is an absolutely charming little port. Thanks for posting @LTCOP!
Misty Morning Posted March 17, 2022 #7 Share Posted March 17, 2022 LTCOP, Wish I was on the ship too. I see the Surf has made its way to Virgin Gorda's North Sound, did they have the beach BBQ on Prickly Pear Island like they used to pre hurricane Irma? If so, this is good news as Prickly Pear is so much nicer than the Fishers Cove site Windstar was using while the site at Prickly Pear was being re-built. greydog Posted March 17, 2022 #8 Share Posted March 17, 2022 Hi - we were to be with you on this trip but wife's Covid+ result prevented going at last minute (at least not flying and denied boarding at dock, then quarantine in SXM). She's recovered from mild symptoms and tested negative today. Glad your trip is going well. I hope the few C-cers found each other at the pool bar sailaway. As re-booking, we're looking at May 10 Pac Coastal or May 20 Alaska on Star Breeze. CHEERS
LTCOP Posted March 18, 2022 Author #9 Share Posted March 18, 2022 Yes, we did have the beach BBQ at Prickle Pear and the new facilitate really nice! It was a fabulous day there! I got way too much sun:-). I think Windstar has upped its game on the food at the BBQ - if that was even possible! The fish burritos were the best I have ever tasted! The perfect beach day!

We have B2B on the Legend in Sept. We would have had a 3rd leg but that was the Black Sea. Still getting used to Windstar's terminology. Our B2B is not a "collecter" because leg 1 is the 2nd part of a "collecter" and leg 2 is the 1st part of another "collecter."
Strenz Posted March 19, 2022 #13 Share Posted March 19, 2022 Hi, Bklynborn47, After this grim winter cold, wind repeated time and again we are thinking about 1/7, 14 days on the Surf. Hope with this world we can, always have to have a dream. If I can get rid of January I feel the rest is down hill. We are 10 days 10/6 on the Surf, third time trying, fingers crossed. Happy Sailing

That cruise will be a wonderful experience! I would love to do one of the culinary cruises! And it is not long until it will be time to go! The last day in St. Bart’s, the Bucjrt Regatta was happening! It was quite a sight - we were anchored among what seemed to be an infinite number of sailing/racing ships and mega yachts. It was fun watching the various teams head out for their races. We disembarked yesterday and there were 7 ships in port! It was crazy. We spent yesterday at our favorite Le Petit Hotel in Grand Case. We love all the wonderful restaurants in this charming town. Flying home this afternoon and back to work tomorrow. Back to reality:-)
greydog Posted March 20, 2022 #17 Share Posted March 20, 2022 LTCOP - your trip seems to have met the 'brochure' dream experience - now back to chilly? Iowa with fond memories. I hope you got to try 'painkiller' beverage at White Bay Gertrudes beach bar or Soggy $ on JVD - a place I hoped to experience. I see you did visit Pussers that we visited 15? years ago. Check Windstar board in mid-May for my report from the James Beard culinary Pac Coastal trip, fingers crossed. Cheers Vic / Atlanta
