zqtchas Posted May 24, 2022 #281 Share Posted May 24, 2022 Latest covid update. Today 2 pax and 3 crew. Yesterday 1 pax and 2 crew. Don’t forget this is the ship that had some infections in January in S America and hit a whale near Chile. 1 1

lincslady Posted May 25, 2022 #284 Share Posted May 25, 2022 Just as long as it is not Myster and Mysty or the ZQTs who have picked up the bug. I hope Myster's back is better; my leg is, at present. So what is happening in Stornaway today? Looks like the weather is only so-so, like the rest of us at present. Lola 2

Rare mysty Posted May 25, 2022 Author #287 Share Posted May 25, 2022 Correct Lola! Callanish Stones! Extremely windy and cold rain! I'm lucky I didn't blow away! The folks living here have to be very hardy souls and perhaps weigh themselves down with rocks. Umbrellas were useless. Currently fueling myself on the Pool Deck. More to follow when my tank is filled. 😁 Just now, lincslady said: I guess that is the standing stones at Callanish? Lola

Rare mysty Posted May 25, 2022 Author #289 Share Posted May 25, 2022 Someone had posted here asking about the gifts for folks doing the full Grand Northern Europe Voyage. I'm very sorry that I don't remember who posed the question. In the last segment we received a lovely travel bag and 2 leather bound travel journals. 6
Rare jpalbny Posted May 25, 2022 #290 Share Posted May 25, 2022 Mysty, after a few weeks on board a Silversea vessel, there would be no danger of me blowing away... No rocks required! 3
Rare mysty Posted May 26, 2022 Author #291 Share Posted May 26, 2022 Today is a sea day. The morning started with heavy seas. There was a special breakfast for the Grand Voyage folks in Atlantide. Turnout was a little skimpy probably due to the rocking and rolling. There was a buffet of cold options, a crepe station and various egg options. Lovely displays! This afternoon Myster and I will be enjoying a Premium Wine Tasting in Silver Note. Our Head Sommelier on this cruise is Biljana. She is amazing! Last evening as we sat in Dolce Vita sipping champagne with lovely new friends Captain Zanello informed us that the Silver Moon had run into some trouble due to the swells and the horrific winds yesterday afternoon. It seems that the anchor was struggling to keep the ship in position and was being dragged along the sea bed. It got tangled in a fishing net. They had to haul up the anchor and use crew on tenders to painstakingly cut off the fishing net. We seem to be doing just fine now. 😁
zqtchas Posted May 26, 2022 #292 Share Posted May 26, 2022 Sitting in our creaking from the rocking cabin this morning awaiting another lunch. Breakfast was a bit of a disappointment, I was planning on waffles smothered in butter and maple syrup. But it was not to be. They had run out of maple syrup yesterday. They run out of pineapple yogurt a few days ago. They are almost out of Perrier. One main elevator stopped working several days ago. There is J&B scotch in 2 places, the Dolce and our cabin.

Rare mysty Posted May 28, 2022 Author #298 Share Posted May 28, 2022 Yesterday we were in Seydisfjordur, Iceland. Beautiful sail in. As we entered the fjord we lost internet access because of the interference of the mountains. We took a guided walking tour around the town. It was founded in 1848 by Norwegians as a herring trading post. It's a town of colourful wooden buildings surrounded by majestic Mt. Bjolfur to the west and Strandartindur to the east. Here are some pics from our walk about.... Today we are at anchor off Djupivogur, Iceland.

Any recommendations for clothing as we are just finishing our packing? I am referring to Icelandic weather here and not SS dress code! I don't particularly enjoy the cold. For the walking tour I wore a long sleeve top, a fleece hoodie, a fleece lined jacket with a Gortex raincoat on top of the other layers. I was comfy. Wore a toque and gloves. Secret is layering. Many folks have puffy jackets.
