ID for kids off the ship

When adults go ashore, we are always told to bring our cruise card and a photo ID to get back onto the ship.  Do kids/grandkids need an ID?  If so what do you bring with you?

Just the sea pass for them unless the country or port requires something else such as a passport.

This is why I got passport cards as well as passport books for my kids. The passport stays safely locked in the cabin, but we have ID that fits in a wallet we can carry around.

 

It is also the ID that my now young adult carries daily because teens today don't seem to have much passion about getting driver's licenses.

 

But I do think it depends upon the nation you visit, whether carrying photo ID is required.

I think last time we had photocopies of all the passports with us when going on shore.

Wanted to report back that no one ever questioned our grandkids' identity.  As long as they had a Princess medallion on their wrist, they were good to go.
