How does Princess choose which hotel category to assign you too on your land portion in Fairbanks?  Do they go by your cabin category?

We have been assigned to Westmark Fairbanks, how does this hotel compare to the Princess Riverside Hotel ?

Room category on the ship has no effect on the hotel room category on a cruisetour.

However if you booked a Connoisseur cruisetour, then the hotel rooms will usually be in a better location than if you had a regular cruisetour.

Sorry to hijack this thread,  but when are you notified about which Fairbanks hotel you will be in? We are flying in a day before our cruise-tour starts in August, and it would be nice to book the same hotel for our first night.

We're booked on a Cruisetour this May. Our Fairbanks hotel is specifically listed in the personalizer under the details of the itinerary.

If it isn't listed there, why don't you let Princess or your TA make that reservation for you? Simply explain you're flying in a day early and would like to modify your booking for the extra day.

Thank you both for your replies. I will check with my travel agent.

you might want to ask both if the rate quoted is per person ( like your Princess cabin ) or per room - like when you book a hotel directly

We were on a Connoisseur cruisetour and were give a carpark view room after an hour’s heated discussion at reception where they tried to tell us that we hadn’t paid 😡!

How can that happen?  Your cruise tour guide should have taken care if it for you. There is no reason you should have to speak with the reception people - that's part of the connoisseur cruise tour deal.

The tour guide was at the airport meeting guests, we’d arranged our own air and 4 day stay in Fairbanks. Princess had given him our paperwork so he thought we were on the flight!
