OK, but why do all the post state that on formal nights you must be dressed that way around the ship (casino, theater, etc).

I don’t know what posts you’ve chosen to read, but people have made it clear time and time again in their posts in this forum, including myself, that no one is forced to dress formally on formal night in the casino, theater, etc.  As JollyJones has counseled people for years, most questions can be answered by reviewing the Silversea website if you don’t believe the answers provided here. And, nowhere does the website state that you must dress formally in all venues on a formal evening.  Hopefully, this will put the formal matter to rest for you.

We are cruising from Barcelona to Venice on the Dawn in August. hopefully the weather will be better. Might look at the helicopter option as we are staying at the Ritz Carlton though it is called the Arts hotel in Barcelona.😄

We’ve stayed at that hotel, really nice with outstanding service.  People say it’s far out, but really it’s a short cab ride to anyplace you want to go.

To add to your clarification: men must wear jackets in all venues around the ship on formal nights, but are not required to be wearing a suit/tux. This is the language from the Silversea website regarding formal nights: "Following dinner, all guests are free to take advantage of any or all public spaces, however, jacket is required."

Tonight had to pour my own wine twice. A few nights ago I only had to do it once.

Assistant restaurant managers frequently helping to deliver food and clear tables.

Tomorrow another test for Rome.

Bet you a dollar there's a COVID outbreak amongst the crew.

I’m on the same cruise. We look away and before we know it there’s another drink. We are 1st timers and are very impressed. They know our name, our drinks, have the best sense of humour, very dry, I cannot criticise anything. We’ve also done well on trivia, but whether we are entitled to anything more than a pen, who cares? It’s all been great fun.

I'm really struggling with the options of buttons to react to your post.   I can't say "I like it", I can't say "Thank you" and I certainly can't say "That's Funny ".  There should be an "I'm Really Sorry To Hear That" button!   This cruise doesn't seem to be measuring up.  For that I am sorry!

Jolly, if you are reading this, how did you learn of the Covid #s on our crossing leg? My bigger question is: if the captain or CD or HD or someone official doesn't announce it, how do we find out? Your post is the only reason I knew about a covid case during the crossing. Later, the HD announced to the in-transit guests that 1 person (sadly, you -- but I'm so very glad it was such a mild case) tested positive.

zqtchas, I'm also wondering if new crew need to quarantine first, and that is why the level of service is down in your favorite venue. I can think of a number of folks whose contracts ended at Barcelona: the CD and several waiters among them.

In any case it would be nice to know if one is experiencing reduced numbers due to new Covid cases, because of new crew onboarding with quarantine, or a combination of the two.

Hi from Heathrow where I am about to fly home after enjoying London.

On the fourth day out of Barbados, I came out of my cabin to see the cabin opposite me had their little wooden table from the verandah in the corridor by their door. I knew from snooping around and looking through the glass doors to the ‘red zone’ that this meant they were in quarantine (the delivery person puts the food tray on the little table, knocks on the door and runs away) so I went to the reception desk and asked. They told me that there was one actual Covid case who had been moved to the red zone, and the pax in isolation in their own cabins were close contacts who would be released if they tested negative after 24 hours.
I asked again a few days later and was told that there were no more positive cases.
Four days after the cabin opposite me were isolated, I developed the very minor symptoms that four days later proved to be Covid.
When I spent my night in the red zone, two other cabins there were occupied so there were definitely a handful of cases.
But they won’t tell you unless you ask, and I’m not sure how accurate the information I was given was.

This made me laugh.

I'm so glad you enjoyed London, jj. Safe travels homeward.

We were negative from the 3pm test today. We are going to an in transit reception soon.

There is staff waiting in the bull pen to be released soon.

Took a tour through the hills of Corsica. The guide talked the WHOLE time with the

volume on high. He even sang to us and played local music right up to the pier."

Spent a day and a half in Ajaccio last year while on Ponant. We were not expecting to be there at all, and at first we were disappointed because we'd been there in 2007 and hadn't been impressed.

Ended up enjoying our time there very much. Hope you did as well! How were the hills?

Everything was beautiful. It’s just the guide sucked the air out of the event. Of course a crowded bus doesn’t help!

Docked in Rome now. Observing major resupply.

Hopefully Tiki and Raisin Bran make the cut. Things appeared to have gone smoothly.

Expecting +/- 400 pax. Killed time in the Arts cafe, had a really good hot chocolate.

Today in Palermo was a beautiful day, warm some sun. Another FB M&G in the afternoon. Tomorrow Messina tender stop canceled due to high winds and up to 6 foot waves, so we dock somewhere else. Easter treat in the cabin.

I screwed up. Turns out we were supposed to anchor off Taormina. Instead we are docked in Messina, Sicily ( not NY ). Still to early in the morning for me.

I wonder if there are excursions to Taormina?  I would guess so.  If you anchor off Taormina it seems to take a long time to get there;  tender in and then a bus ride up.  It might not be much longer from Messina.
