Anyone on Gem? Ship next you?

I'm going crazy!  I was looking at the port cam and see there is a smaller ship next to the Gem, but it isn't shown on any schedule or tracker that I can find.

Anyone know what it is?  Or if anyone is on the Gem can you see what ship it is?  Spent about an hour this morning on this mystery and still haven't solved it.

Appreciate any help.  Thanks!

According to marinetraffic.com it's a tug named HMS Justice.

I don't have a visual on the port cam that you are using - however, according to Marinetraffic - the much smaller ship next to the Gem this morning is most probably - this - The HMS Justice, a tugboat

https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/shipid:452051/zoom:16

When we returned to NYC last Sunday on the Getaway, we had a pilot boat portside, apparently help escorted the ship into Pier 88, as we're sitting on the Hudson for a little while before making the turn - tidal and strong river currents could've prompted it.  The fuel barge came along shortly thereafter.

For some reason the link wouldn't post but if you search for Manhattan cruise terminal webcam it should come up.  It's a camera on the NY side and shows the ships distinctly.  It is definitely a small cruise ship, but I can't make out the funnel logo.  Definitely not a tug boat.  I did see the tug boats on the ship tracker site.

Maybe it's a ghost ship.  LOL!  It's not on anyone's tracking or schedule.  Quite a mystery.

If someone can get a screen shot that would be great.  I'm not tech saavy enough to do it and I couldn't copy and paste the picture.

Thanks all

You may be looking at an old picture on some website, not an active live webcam .

Can't you just write down the URL of the site you're looking at and then type it in ?

BTW, the HMS Justice doesn't look like the typical tug and when it's tugging a bunker barge the combination of the two might look like a small ship.

Looking at that sweeping portnycam again & able to zoom in a static screenshot with a closer look - it appeared that the Gem is docked on the "downtown" or south side of Pier 88, thus, we can see nearly her entire starboard side, as that's usually connected to the 2 ramps/bridge between the terminal building and the ship.  Clear enough to see the stern of the Gem ... at the end of the pier.

Ships typically docked on the northside of Pier 88, unless multiple ships are there ... could be that they are doing maintenance, conducting mandatory life safety & training drills, or getting inspected, etc.

What looked like a part of the "Aft" section of another ship docked is, most probably, Pier 90's pier structure, which is whitish.

We need a 4K UltraHD image to clearly see better and/or zoom it for a sharper pix, but - from the panning but static image just seemed odd ... from the video angle sweeping, one cannot ususally see starboard Midship side of ships like the Gem.  Here, one can nearly see half of the Fwd section of the Norwegian Gem.

Perhaps, it's an optical trick or distortion fooling our eyes, whatever 👴

This could be what the OP is seeing - an old, static photo.  It's only when you click on the link below the image do you get the live webcam feed.image.thumb.png.369f33e775965c8bca93a717a9c901ae.png

Excellent detective work. Must be a picture from quite a while ago. Looks like an old Holland America Line ship at pier 90.

I WAS looking at that static picture above the link and did think it was a live link.  Mystery solved.  Thank you to all the arm chair detectives!

Although on the panning live webcam it really does look as if there is a ship next to the Gem today.  I may check it out again once the Gem leaves to be sure!  Lol!

This was the other picture I saw.  It really does look as if there is another ship next to the Gem.

Can't believe I spent so much time on this "mystery" today and even got DH involved in the search.

Oh well, guess there are worse ways to spend a day.  Lol!
