Princess Ships Out Of Galveston

So, Princess is moving the Ruby Princess to Galveston for a few months in 2023 until repositioning it for the Alaska season. Does anyone know if Princess is planning on moving a ship to Galveston in 2024 on a more permanent basis? Sure would be a shorter drive to get a Princess cruise out of Galveston than Ft Lauderdale....

I doubt if even Princess knows.

It is only in Galveston this time because the pandemic left Princess with too many ships for their normal winter home ports.

One problem with Princess in Galveston is that they are competing with three other cruise lines (Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Disney) that basically have the same itineraries. No reason to pick Princess except for price or if one really prefers Princess.

Regardless of the reason for their return we are THRILLED to have them back in Galveston!!!

We took advantage of their $1.00 deposit and booked on two of their four sails next year, including a16 day Panama Cabal ocean to ocean.

We just got off the 16 day Sky Princess transatlantic and between that and the other two cruises we’ve been on the past four months we are burnt out of cruising for the moment, we’ll be raring to go again by next year! 🙂

considering the fact that they haven't been in texas since 2013 not sure when they will be back again.

we haven't been on princess since 2015, at that time it was my go to cruise line, hopefully it will be again.

I hope they stay in Texas. We sailed out of Galveston Christmas 2013 (our first Princess cruise!) and I just booked the Ruby for spring break 2023. Texas is drivable for us, which is so nice. And we fell in love in Houston once upon a time, so many of our early dates and favorite restaurants are there, and it’s fun to reminisce when we are in that area.

At least in Fort Lauderdale/Miami there are a number of different 7 day itineraries to choose from.

In Galveston, the typical 7 day itinerary for the four cruise lines is the same.

Is transportation between the airport and the cruise port problematic in Galveston?

Yes and no.

If arriving the day of, consider a Princess shuttle. If arriving the day before, consider staying near the airport and returning the next morning to take a Princess shuttle.

https://galvestonlimo.com/airport-shuttle/    on day of cruise does provide service from airport to cruise and vice versa at the end of the cruise.  Also from airport to Galveston hotel on other days.

With IAH about 65 miles from the port and HOU about 45 miles from the port, a taxi could be expensive.

Uber could be an alternative.
