Air Plus

Anyone have opinions on using Air Plus to have some input into flights? We used air deviation on Regent and got exactly the flights we wanted (although almost didn't get our luggage before the cruise embarked but that wasn't Regent's fault).

Does Viking charge the Air Plus fee if they are not able to satisfy your request and you end up going with whatever they select?

We prefer to fly out of Tampa and have only one other stop before arriving in Athens for this trip but we have no idea what airline(s) Viking typically uses for this route.

Thanks for any replies.

We used air plus and got our 2nd choice going to London and our 1st choice coming home from Stockholm.  We had our choice in hand and our travel agent, Air Plus agent, and myself had a 3 way conference call.  It was about an hour.  Know what flight you want and have a 2nd to, as our first did not have space to book.

We are on Delta.

We have used Air+ once.  I researched and provided three choices (dates, airlines, and flight number) in both directions. I provided this information to our Travel Agent and a day later we were booked on our first choices. EasyPeasy.

We have used Air Plus 4 or 5 times. Always got our first choice flights, except once and got our 2nd choice that time.  But it may help that we always prefer Delta or their Sky Team partners. Not sure where you are traveling from or to, but to most destinations in Europe they use one of the legacy carriers (American, United or American) for US legs and their European partners (KLM, Air France, Lufthansa, TAP, British Air, etc.) for European legs.
Just pick what you want and give them a call.

Dec. 2021 Venus.  Paid air plus fee, got flights we wanted, but the airlines/V either cancelled, or changed flight 2 times, resulting in much, much longer days of travel to/from.  Was PHL/ATH.  No airline flew nonstop from Philly. Orig was PHL/FRA/ATH, on Luft. Real nice routing & connection times. LH cancelled flights.  Replacement was AA thru LHR, and BA to ATH.  Very bad timing, didn't get to ATH until 6:30 Pm.  Waited real long in customs/immigration lines.  Pireaus is a good hour from airport, didn't get on ship til 8:30, missed entire 1st day of cruise, a full day in ATH. Luckily, ship departed next day.  1st V cruise, it was excellent. In hindsight, probably should have just had V book us without Plus.
