You are, of course. correct.  Elite level passengers have complementary access to what is called the "Grapevine" tasting.  Of course, if that was the tasting that I was recalling, and they did, in fact, not pay extra, then my story would not have been very good.  😁

I experienced such a person for 113 days on my Grand World Voyage who "knew" more about wines than Roy, our Wine Steward.  Roy exemplified the best of the "Signature of Excellence" slogan as to how he responded to this--really pleasant tablemate--in serving him.
