excited balcony Posted April 26, 2022 #1 Share Posted April 26, 2022 We are looking to book a Hawaii Cruise with NCL for February 2023. While doing a little research I was surprised to see how expensive the shore excursions are. We just got back from the Caribbean last week and comparable excursions, snorkeling, island tours, etc., are about twice the price - both on our own and with the ship. Does this seem right and if so, are there any suggestions for finding less expensive excursions?

Generally you can usually do most any excursion on your own for less than what the cruise line will charge-- even just taking their commission out of it will do that but sometimes it can be close to even half of what the cruise line is asking. That being said, Hawaii is much more expensive overall than the Caribbean. Food, drinks, activities, hotels, rental cars, tours etc will cost you more in Hawaii than pretty much anywhere in the Caribbean. What are you trying to accomplish? There are a few workarounds and operators here and there that some of us with experience on the islands can help with but overall be prepared to pay more for things.
CruiserBruce Posted April 26, 2022 #3 Share Posted April 26, 2022 Totally agree with @princeton123211. Hawaii is considerably more expensive...there is just no comparison. Depending on exactly what you want to do, you can generally do things cheaper on your own.
