vicd1969 Posted April 27, 2022 #1 Share Posted April 27, 2022 Our upcoming cruise includes 1 Pinnacle Grill and 1 Canaletto dinner. If we want to "exchange" the Pinnacle to Tamarind, do we ask on the day we board, or could we call Guest Services before the cruise? We're not looking to recover the difference in cost. Likewise, if we want to "upgrade" from Pinnacle to Rudy's Sel de Mer, could we only pay the difference? Also, I noticed in the dining reservations website that the online price for Sel de Mer is only $47.20 instead of the list price of $57.80. Is HAL having a stealth sale on Sel de Mer or is it typical to offer a discount for advance online purchases? The other premium dining places don't seem to have discounted prices online. FOPMan Posted April 27, 2022 #2 Share Posted April 27, 2022 The price on the website doesn’t include gratuity. Please look at your online record - you may see that you have complimentary dinners (2 per person from have it all). The system didn’t seem to care if I used them at C, Pinnacle, or Tamarind. I don’t think you can use them at any value at Rudi’s.
LindaJ+ Posted April 27, 2022 #3 Share Posted April 27, 2022 I had a total of 5 dining credits in my package but could only use them at Pinnacle or Canalletto, not any of the others.

Sadly you cannot do this. It is valid only at the restaurant specified. As others noted the system may let you book either Canaleto or Pinnacle Grill twice, but you will definitely not be able to use for Tamarind or a discount at Sel de Mer. Sel de Mer is not discounted on my upcoming cruise. Are you on a Pinnacle Class Ship? If you are not, it’s the “pop up” Sel de Mer which is not quite the same (but still good) as on the Pinnacle Class and the price is different. The $57.80 refers to Sel de Mer on Koningsdam, Rotterdam & Nieuw Statendam.
Florida_gal_50 Posted April 27, 2022 #6 Share Posted April 27, 2022 The price for sel de mer is $47.20 on the pinnacle class, at least for cruises this year. I started a thread last week and several posters said that this is what they were seeing as well. One poster was charged the $47.20 on the koningsdam recently. I know I’ve been able to switch my free pinnacle as a 5 star to tamarind or Canaletto. If I were the op I’d ask once on board at a restaurant not at the front desk. It might not be possible but it doesn’t hurt to ask. Good luck.

By front desk, do you mean the desk where they sell dining reservations on the embarkation day? I'm only 2 stars so the Sel de Mer price is before any discount. Yes, I understand that. At one point I was told I couldn't switch my "free" pinnacles to Canaletto or Tamarind until I showed them on the website. If you don't ask the answer will be no. It very well still might be.

No I just wouldn't ask at the front desk where you would go for normal queries such as your card key not working, account issues etc. For sure you'll get a no there. If you ask where you make dining reservations I'm thinking it will still possibly be a no. If you are face to face with the restaurant there is more of a chance you "might" get a chance. I could be dead wrong but I think if there is less capacity aboard the ships they may be more likely to bend the rules or I might just be dreaming.
