Voom has its issues, for sure- hit a pretty dead spot in the Atlantic yesterday. 
 

But. 
 

The very first instruction on the page in my cabin was to turn on airplane mode, then turn on wi-fi to find the ships internet. So just follow the directions. 
 

no excuse for voom to suck that bad, but I can’t see how it’s vooms fault to wrack up massive cell charges. 
 

Edit- I would attach a picture of the directions, but I don’t know how to for this board.

As I stated, there was no paper whatsoever in our cabin. No paper of any kind with directions to follow.  I also took responsibility for the error.
it is my opinion that Voom was/is a ripoff if it doesn’t actually work.

I'm in a hotel in Amsterdam. As per Verizon instructions,  #1, go to airplane mode, #2 look for free wifi.
