Early Saver vs Fun For You

 Share

Recommended Posts

I am now booked under FFY on my Sept cruise. I have applied for a lower rate a few times and I have been told that doesn't apply to my rate code so no reduction in fare. Ok fine. Now, I'm looking at booking for next year. The early saver rate is $80 more than the FFY BUT I can get price reductions. Is it worth the extra $80 to get early saver to MAYBE get a price reduction or is it better to just go with the lower FFY rate? FFY also have a $100 OBC and early saver doesn't.

The new policy in the post-Covid Era is once you use your Early Saver price drop feature and lower to new rate, you no longer get future price drops unless the new rate code has that feature.  Many people found that out after accepting a lower rate, posted about it here on CC, often a Resident Rate.  So if you go with Early Saver, use your price drop wisely when you've decided it's truly worth it.  We just got 503 OBC by switching codes, and I'm not even going to look between now and my cruise to see if it drops more.  I don't want to know!  I was happy with the 503.

Indeed - "once early saver always early saver" is not true anymore.

Thanks. Years ago I got several price reductions. Thanks for the info

You can still as long as the rate you are matching allows for price reductions. But many times the new lower rate (resident rates, casino rates, etc) do not. So once you match to one of these rates, you're off the early saver train and not eligible for further rate reductions.

Thank you for clarifying that. For sure it used to be that no matter where you found the cheaper rate you could match to it even if it was on a different web site then Carnival like VTG or Travelocity. I guess the good old days are over. lol. Does anyone know how noisy Deck 8 is on Pride?

I was going to say I price match south west and Delta 🙂

Way off topic BUT WHAT??? Delta price matches now?  Or do you mean you can just cancel and rebook using a credit?

you dont have to cancel... you can modify flight and if there is a cheaper flight you rebook it and get an ecredit:) If they change our flight more than an hour you can modify and get the difference back to form of payment
