Has anyone used this tour company to go to Mendenhall Glacier? What was your experience? We want to go to the Mendenhall Visitor Center. I read the shuttle bus leaves you 1.5 miles from the Center, so that is not an option. Please advise.

  • 2 weeks later...

We just used them on our Ovation cruise 5/13-5/20. They drop off at the visitor’s center. They also honored our National Park pass and deducted $5.00 pp for the four of us. Very easy to use and they have a ticket booth right on the pier. We did the tramway first, then got the bus to Mendenhall.

Nice to know they honor the NP pass and give credit for it.

I was just thinking about getting to Mendenhall by myself and didn't realize I might be dropped off so far away. I'm interested in mostly the walking trail to Nugget Falls. Is the bus dropping off near that?

The city bus drops off outside the park entrance, I understand about 1.5 miles from visitor center. ($2 pp)

The blue bus drops off at thee visitor center. ($45 pp RT). I'm interested in walking the Nugget Falls trail also, and understand it starts close to the visitor center.

That is correct, the city bus will drop you off at the entrance to the Mendenhall park. It's a flat 1.5 miles walk on a paved walk to the visitor center from the entrance. The trail out to Nugget Falls is just to left of the visitor center, can't miss it. That path is a paved path, fairly flat. It'll be like a interstate freeway with people walking out to Nugget falls. Be sure to bring your senior National Park pass, it'll save you $5 on the bus ride should you use the White or Blue bus.
