thear Posted May 29, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 29, 2022 Is there anyone who has recently disembarked in Barcelona, then headed home to the US? My family sails at the end of June and we are looking for different testing options for when it's time to fly home. We know about Emed but I worry about having the "live video" portion not work. We also know about the test site in Barcelona airport that we need an appointment for. Are there any other options? Too much to hope that RC offers testing on the ship? gumshoe958 Posted May 29, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 29, 2022 There is no testing on the ship or at the pier. It’s either eMed while on board or find somewhere in Barcelona. The airport would be easiest obviously but there are other places.
truffles2 Posted May 29, 2022 #3 Share Posted May 29, 2022 We used the flycovid at the airport. It was quick and easy although they used the brain tickler technique when inserting the swab.

If you are flying home the same day you disembark I really think the eMed the day before is your best bet. You can’t check in for your flight until you have your test results. There were long lines for check-in at the airport and I heard that the testing was not going too quickly ever. We were flying home same day so we did eMed on the ship with no problem with the WiFi at all. There were 4 of us. If you have a day or two, there are a lot of testing sites. Just check google maps for the one closest to your hotel. That is what we did for our test to board the ship.
mauimary Posted May 29, 2022 #5 Share Posted May 29, 2022 If you are staying over a night in a hotel room it would be easy and convenient to just do it there.
ragoff11 Posted June 29, 2022 #6 Share Posted June 29, 2022 (edited) We are on the Royal Caribbean Wonder of the Seas. We are being told that Antigen testing is required to disembark back in Barcelona if you are not up to date on vaccines or no vaccine. Even though we are coming back from Italy, an EU country as well as Spain is NOT requiring any testing or vaccine requirements for passengers arriving from EU countries by Sea (or Air). Everyone was tested prior to boarding the ship upon departure. RC says they are requiring testing because it aligns with the country’s requirements. Which this is not accurate. Again, Spain is not requiring it though RC is asking for $55 per person to test. It’s does make sense and Guest Services on RC agrees but they can’t change anything. Welcome to CC and some of the weird rules RCI and some ships have.
