Stores close to Pier 66

There is a Target on 3rd and Pike very close to the market. However, 3rd and Pike tends to attract vagrants. They've done a good job of trying to clean that block but since I haven't been there in awhile, YMMV. There is a Bartells (our local drug store) on 2nd and Wall St which is a 10 minute walk from your hotel.

The Target just on the other side of the Market from the Marriott (we walked through the Market to it) was fine on a Saturday morning.  Lots of tourist crowds, visible security, no issues at all.  The Target itself was fairly well stocked, although it only had self checkouts at that entrance, no cashiers.

Unless things have changed recently there are cashiers on the lower/grocery level, if needed.

We entered and exited at street level in May, and didn’t see any other entrances.  At that entrance there was a counter that looked like it could host human cashiers, but it wasn’t staffed at all.  The staffer we talked to didn’t mention other options when we asked about checking out with a person.

We were also at that Target in May and a cashier came and worked that counter when the self check out line got really long.

I went down to the market this morning to get some fruit so stopped by Target.  They have replaced the cashiered stations on the lower level with self-checkouts. The upper level has self-checkout and 4 cashiered stations that, as reallyitsmema mentioned, are staffed as needed for overflow.  Both levels are at street level due to the hill.  I did ask about no cashiered stations and was told they could accommodate that request although that would seem to be inconvenient.

I walked by Pier 66 today and that grocery/deli is no longer there.

One of the closest small grocery stores is about 5 minutes away at Site 17 Grocery 2502 Western Ave. Bartells or Target are better choices and probably less expensive.
