Keata Posted June 24, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 24, 2022 As I have a US credit card and a credit card that charges no conversion surcharge it makes a difference to me. Anyone know which currency the fee is in? Thanks in advance
1025cruise Posted June 24, 2022 #2 Share Posted June 24, 2022 I had to pay a fee. I believe the Bermuda dollar is on par with the US dollar, but I had to pay an international fee for my authorizations.
njhorseman Posted June 24, 2022 #3 Share Posted June 24, 2022 Yes, the Bermuda dollar is on par with the US dollar so there shouldn't be a conversion fee but many if not most credit cards charge a foreign transaction fee. When we use a credit card in Bermuda we always use one that doesn't have a foreign transaction fee.
taxgal Posted July 10, 2022 #4 Share Posted July 10, 2022 (edited) It depends. If you use a credit card in a store, you could be charged a foreign transaction fee. To prevent that, use a card that does not charge the foreign transaction fee. Or use cash. For example, we always go to the perfumery in St Georges, if we don't watch what card we use, we will get charged the fee. We mostly just pay cash (US dollars). Just make sure you get your change in US dollars too! Edited July 10, 2022 by taxgal misspelling
