doones2 Posted June 25, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 25, 2022 We will be in Naples for a day and we definitely want to visit Pompeii. So far all the tours we have checked on are 7-8 hours long. We are looking for a 4hour tour. We want to spend part of our visit in Naples. Any recommendations for tour operators?
Rare cruisemom42 Posted June 25, 2022 #2 Share Posted June 25, 2022 Most tour operators want to sell you a full-day tour, so that's what they list. Have you actually reached out to them and asked about a half-day tour of the site? You can also get there on your own fairly easily (there is a train option with many departures and a bus option close to the ship with fewer options but easier overall...) Once at the site there are guide available at the main entrance (Porta Marina), which is the one closest to the train stop for "Pompei Scavi" on the Circumvesuviana line. euro cruiser Posted June 25, 2022 #3 Share Posted June 25, 2022 (edited) The City Sightseeing shuttle bus appears to be back in operation post Covid, maybe that's the answer for you. It's not a tour but it's not public transit either, kind of an in-between option that leaves from close to the cruise port. Audioguide in 5 languages (city-sightseeing.it) There are limitations with this option that you don't face with public transit, mainly that you are stuck with their times. You can go at 9:20 and return at 1:45, or go at 11:45 and return at 3:45. Once at Pompei you can join a small group guided tour at the entrance to the ruins: Guided tours - Pompeii Sites You can wait and buy your tickets to the ruins once you get there. If you'd rather have them in advance buy directly from the official site here: Guided tours - Pompeii Sites Edited June 25, 2022 by euro cruiser
