We are planning this with group of 16. Any Alaska cruisers that have any deck recommendations or what side of ship is better for the views?? Heard from one that said stay away from decks 6 and 13.  Any help would be appreciated as we plan on booking tomorrow!!

Deck 6 has many obstructed view balcony cabins.  There are also some on deck 7.  Deck 13 can hear noise from the pool deck above or from Coastal Kitchen and some of the other food venues.  Side of the ship isn't that big of a deal as you are going roundtrip.  We have stayed on decks 7, 8, 10, 11,  and 13 on that class of ship.  We had noise issues on deck 13 and motion issues on deck 8 forward.  We prefer to stay at or aft the aft elevators on that class of ship.

A group of 16 would be best booked with a TA for potential extra savings as that qualifies for group rates.  Do yourself a favor and ask a TA for a quote.

Like many things it depends.  There are areas fully forward on deck 6 that have no obstruction and on deck 13 fully forward there is little overhang above your head.  Midship on both decks is a different matter.

What is difference with midship??

I always pick a deck in the middle of other passenger decks, personally. If you're all getting balconies, it might be cool to be half on one side and half on the other! I would try and aim all around the same stairwell (to make it easy to get back and forth) and try and get as many rooms as possible in a row, but being a bit apart will be ok.

On deck 6 midship cabins are mostly obstructed balconies.  There are some exceptions, but many are obstructed and those that align with the lifeboat davits can be even more obstructed.

On deck 13 the midship area is inset so the pool deck has a large overhang with supports that angle upward.  They are nearly rain and sun proof but in the midship area they also feel more closed in with the large overhang looming above you and in some cases those support beams can impede views.
