Venice Disembarkation / Airport question

Recommended Posts

We're taking our first comp'd Casino Royale Cruise in Oct to/from Venice. Luckily we have some excess airmiles piled up (handy for keeping the costs down!) but our flight options for the return from Venice are limited to 1130am and 9pm.

My question is, from experience, do you think there's enough time to get to the airport from the ship for the 11:30am flight? It would be my preference compared to hanging around 12+ hours with luggage for a flight home, We'd be happy to self disembark if that would make it quicker so does anyone have any idea what time they normally start to allow passengers off?

Many thanks in advance.

You do realise that the ships leave from Ravenna which is around 3hrs drive from

Venice/VCE?!

1. Get the RCI shuttle to Venice, put your luggage into the left luggage facility in Piazzale Roma, and enjoy a leisurely lunch and afternoon in town, then retrieve luggage and catch airport bus around 6pm.

2. look at flights from Bologna instead?

Assuming you are talking about an RCI cruise, it sails out of Ravenna, not Venice itself. If you get a private car service that might be doable, but a bit tight. Disembarkation usually starts 30-45 min after arrival.

I should have thought more about where the terminal was shouldn't have I :).

Goodness, now I have to work out how to get to and from the terminal 🙂

I agree with you, it is a long commute to Venice airport, 11:30 is too early.  We just did this May 29th.  We also took the Royal shuttle and took the train to Venice.  The first shuttle left at 7 and we didn’t get to Venice until 1PM taking the train.  We wanted to visit Venice for a couple of days so it worked for us, but I wouldn’t book a flight that early.

RCI transfer to Ravenna port from Venice City Center (People mover at  Isola Nova del Tronchetto) at $58pp

They also have service from Marco Polo Airport. Two shuttles each morning at 9 and 11. The shuttle from Marco Polo Airport is $45pp.

That's not showing up on my cruise planner. is it something that is booked while on the ship?

Our flight back to uk from marco polo Venice is 1220. All the flights and transfers booked through rcl. So i assume that we will get from the ship to venice in time for the flight. If not then see what happens from there. But i wouldnt have done it seperately. If i did i would fly to/from Bologna.

Thanks Everyone for the replies.

Quick update: I have now booked flights to Bologna instead of Venice and have called RC and booked airport transfers which were a very reasonable £60 pp return (so £30 each way!). Very happy with that!
