I have that for my cruise coming up, but I also have the drink package.  How does that work when I am in the casino gambling?  Do they take it out of my 15 drink limit for the my drink package or is it not counted?  And do you have to go up to the bar and get your own drink?

Yes, your 15 drink limit is reduced by drinks in the casino.  No, you don't have to get up from the casino game to get a drink at the casino bar. The casino has servers that will take your order for drinks.

I'm not sure it matters; I think I have read somewhere that they cut you off at 15 drinks a day regardless how you get them.  The 15 drink limit is not just your package but allowance on the ship in general.

Someone will correct me if I am wrong.  But I think they do this to control bad behavior.  Personally, I can't even imagine drinking close to that before I passed out!

Bar service can be hit or miss just so you know.  I have cruised 4 times this year and one ship it was good, and they were around pretty frequently.  Others didn't see one but maybe once an hour.

No 15 is way beyond what I could ever drink, but if I'm gambling and have some fru fru drinks, I can knock back about 5 of those, especially if they are not too sweet.  I'm gonna have to see if they have Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey.  I LOVE the Honey Lemonade on NCL, those can sneak up on you.

and of course, just when you are really thirsty, there is not a bar server to be seen anywhere around. 😞

Not really to control behavior since you can have bottles in your room,  more to control inventory and reduce the temptation to share.  If it was unlimited, everyone would be buying drinks for all their new friends

What she meant was the even if you don't have a drink package, you are still limited to 15 drinks.  @wemjam  is correct.

"Drinking Alcohol On Board

The minimum age for the purchase and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages in the bars, lounges and gift shops is 21 years of age. Carnival reserves the right to request ID prior to the purchase of alcohol and refuse the sale of alcohol to anyone. Guests will be limited to purchasing a maximum of 15 alcoholic beverages, per person, per day while on board."

From what I have read they may be a little more lenient towards serving someone more than 15 drinks if they don't have a drink package and don't appear to be too full, but there is generally a hard stop at 15 with the drink package.

There are ways around it, like you mentioned, by buying bottles or buckets.  But it would be very difficult to control some of that.  I would say in general, limiting single serve drinks would be most effective the majority of time but there will always be exceptions.

I know what what meant.  The 15 drink limits has nothing to do with reducing drunken behavior.  It is all about inventory control and even reducing waste.  There is also a hard stop buying individual drinks at 15.

It's amazing how a dollar (or 2) can make servers find you.  We get to know the servers and tip well, by the 2 day we have no problem getting a drink. I have seen a server at the bar getting drinks and they ask me if I am ready for another.

Spicy chipotle pineapple martini. Has vodka. And is the best drink on the ship.

I'm intrigued. Is it also sweet? I think I wouldn't mind spicy as long as it's not too spicy but the older I get, the less I like sweet drinks.

I was on the Magic November of 2021 for an 8 day cruise, I tried to be friendly with the server and tipped him $5 on my first drink, he never came around to me again. This doesn't always work.

Yes, but that is controlled too, isn't it.  I believe there is a limit of like 2 bottles only that you can get delivered.  It's not like you can get a bunch that way either.

I guarantee it is to curb bad behavior.  Why else would they cut people off from spending $15 a pop on drinks.  Some people would just drink, and drink, and drink and with that comes problems!

Bad behavior can happen on one drink.

We have lways ordered what we wanted in the casino and received it. Nothing out of the ordinary though. Agree with the “need” to tip servers in order to get repeat orders filled. It works 95% of the time. It’s a sad but true fact. Don’t tip a buck or two and good luck getting drink #2 and so on …

Well dang, sorry that happened. It might be hit/miss the first evening but truly we have been walking thru the casino and had a server ask what we wanted, told her we would be back later in the day.  We have seen the servers working in the dining room at breakfast and requested to sit where they were. As always things can vary, hopefully in a couple of days our experience will be wonderful!

Did you see them again working the area of the casino you were in the first night?

Just got off the Radiance and had DOU in the casino. I ordered a cosmo the first night and it was really good so that was my go to after that!Sweet but not too sweet

Did you have to be actually playing to get the drinks?  I have one of those promos and wondered if I could just go to the casino bar while DH is at the tables playing.

You cannot just walk up to the bar and order. You'll need to be at a machine or a table and order from a server.

Nobody is really monitoring if or how much you're playing at a machine, however, so you could slow-play at a machine for low stakes if you wanted to.

I suspect, but no previous experience, that if you're watching your spouse play at a table, you both have Drinks On Us, and you're tipping, that the server would likely grab you a drink along with your spouse's order.

We tried to order from the bar and were told it had to be from a server. That being said, we didnt have to be actively playing to order, some times we just found a server walking around and ordered from them
