At Sea - 8/1

The night before we filled out the room service breakfast card and hung it on outside our door.

Ronald, our butler, called us at the time we selected to let us know he was on the way with breakfast. @DJsDH answered the doorbell and chatted with Ronald as he set the table and placed all of our selections so we could serve ourselves. This became our routine for each day of the cruise!

Our original plan was to dine al fresco but it was a little too windy and humid. We loved having a real sit-down breakfast complete with mimosas (to which we added our Grand Marnier).

We started with a fruit plate and warm pastries, I especially enjoyed the chocolate croissant. @DJsDH had a ham, cheese and mushroom omelet with a side of bacon and sausage. I dined on the Eggs Benedict. Neither one of us, both two-cups-a-day coffee drinkers, only drank half a cup as the coffee wasn't to our liking.

We called Ronald after we finished dining. He promptly arrived to clear the table. He confirmed our attendance at the Officers' Soiree in the Retreat before dinner as well as out 7 p.m. reservation at Tuscan Grille.

We moved out to the balcony where we spent the rest of the morning and afternoon enjoying the salt air, and slight seas while we read.and watched the world sail by.

Sometime after noon we called Ronald to order our lunch from the MDR lunch and room service menus. We shared the Crisp-Fried Mozzarella sticks ... next time I would order two servings as there were just two sticks per order. @DJsDH had the turkey club which was interesting as it had onion on it. I had the Cobb salad with blue cheese dressing on the side. Ronald came to clear our dishes and confirmed our reservation for Tuscan Grille at 7 p.m.

We enjoyed a short nap and then showered and dressed for the soiree and dinner.

Caittier. It was also served in Luminae and the Retreat.

My bad, you clearly wrote that in your post which I originally misread. Thanks for responding. I'm following along closely as I'm in 6141 on Millie in March.

No worries @RichYak!

We loved the location 0f 6141! Just a few steps to the aft interior staircase which we used to get to Deck 4 (The Retreat and Luminae). I would book it again in a heartbeat!

I agree on the location. We stayed in 6145 on Summit once. I really love M-class ships.

At Sea - 8/1

We were celebrating my 60th birthday this evening and our 38th wedding anniversary the next evening.

Evidently @DJsDHhad a conversation with the Shore Side Concierge to arrange a surprise for me. Evidently he was getting a little bit of a run around as to whom he should be dealing with to arrange it.

As usual, I was talking my time getting ready for dinner. @DJsDH, as he is prone to do, was ready about 20 minutes before me. He suggested that he head down to the Retreat and I would come down when I was ready.

I headed down to the Retreat, masked and dressed up. As I made my way through the packed Rendezvous Lounge and  Casino I was surprised to see so many folks in shorts and casual wear on a Chic Night. No judgement ... just an observation.

The Retreat was very busy with many officers and guests. I found @DJsDH at "our" table near the bar. He looked somewhat perplexed but I just marked it up to him being disappointed that I wasn't ready on time.

Bianca, Guest Relations Director, came over to say hello. She asked what she could get me to drink. I requested an extra dry Grey Goose martini with a blue cheese olive. When we were chatting with Cecilia on Embarkation Day I asked her if it would be possible to get said olives as I know they are a special request. She assured us that she would have them ready for me today.

Bianca went about meeting other guests while keeping an eye on bar service. She came over once to twice to see if I had received my drink, which I hadn't. She profusely apologized and said she would get right on it. I felt bad as I didn't want to have the bar team have to go an extra step as they already had their hands full with a guest-filled Retreat.

I ordered a glass of champagne and sipped on it. About 15 minutes later, my martini was served with an olive ... without blue cheese🤣 No worries as I knew the staff was doing all that they could to make everyone happy.

We headed down to Tuscan Grille for our 7 p.m. reservation. We have dined at Tuscan before and are familiar with the menu.

We were shown to a lovely table by the window. Our waters were poured and bread with olive oil and fresh basil was served as we perused the menu.

We decided to split  the Crispy Calamari as our first course. The lemon caper dipping sauce really made the calamari special.

We then each had a small Caesar Salad ... notice a trend🙃

For the pasta course we each ordered half portions. @DJsDHhad the Short Rib Pappardelle Ragu and I had the Lobster Rigatoni Alfredo. Both were the perfect size.

@DJsDHoriginally wanted the Veal Marsala as his main and I the Grilled Branzino. We appreciated our waiter, Jeffrey, suggesting a different entree for @DJsDHbecause he felt that the veal wouldn't meet our expectations. We so appreciated his frankness.

We decided to split the 18-counce Prime Dry Aged Porterhouse with garlic mashed potatoes and the Broccolini Aglio E Oilo.

The service and food were excellent!

Too full for dessert, we headed back to the suite to enjoy the rest of the evening on the balcony.

At Sea - 8/1

We were met in the hallway by Prez and Ronald, both of whom inquired on how we enjoyed our dinner.

Ronald then opened the door to the suite for us. In unison they said "Surprise! Happy Birthday!"

There was a lovey flower arrangement and delicious cake on the dining room table along with a card from our Suite Team.IMG_6590.thumb.jpeg.35b339bd523f7918d93d260d93a6b8c8.jpeg

I loved my special dog and crown arranged by Prez!

As we entered the bedroom to change our clothes we found even more surprises.

Retreat PJs with our respective initials.

And two lovely little boxes of chocolates.

After changing, we headed out to the balcony and enjoyed the lightning show put on by Mother Nature over the gentle Atlantic Ocean.

A perfect ending to another wonderful day.
