My Family Time Dining information is all over the cruise lines website.  I searched for you.

https://www.royalcaribbean.com/search?q=family+time+dining&page=1

So 45 minutes dining for the kids and then the parents stay longer for coffee and dessert..............Don't seem like that would work to well with young children like 3 to 10 years old............What do they do just get up and roam around the ship while their parents are finishing their dinner.

Think the Windjammer would be a better option for the young kids. Go there and have the kids eat, after they finish eating take the kids to the kids club and then the parents go to late seating for dinner.

If you read the link FULLY, the AO staff pick the kids up from the MDR to allow parents to enjoy their coffee & dessert.  They aren’t released into the wild!!!  Geez Louise.

Parents will need to escort their children to the designated Main Dining room entrance doors at their designated time to check their child in with the Adventure Ocean Youth Staff. Once checked-in, the Adventure Ocean Youth Staff will then escort their children to Adventure Ocean for ongoing evening activities, while parents can continue to enjoy their dinner.

I'm surprised so many people are booking cruises without buying travel insurance that covers this exact thing. My travel insurance gives me 100% cash back if me or anyone in my travel party tests positive for covid and can't sail. It cost me under $200 and the peace of mind is worth it.

You don’t need insurance if it’s just one cabin. I am leaving next Sunday. If I test positive we get all our money back. No insurance needed. If my husband test positive we get money back too. So if you have just one cabin you get your money back.

We have 3 rooms booked on a cruise leaving in 2 days! One person in one of the rooms tested positive for Covid today. Does anyone know if the other rooms can get a refund? They have tested negative for Covid. We are all in the same family.

@Patches1966

Since you are all in the same family, You could tell Royal one cabin is positive and the other 2 cabins are family who have been exposed to the positive members   You would have to declare that on wellness check in on app (if truly were exposed) anyway.

What is family time dining? If you mean My Time Dining, which hasn't been working very well on their ships now, You would be much better off going with either Early or Late Sitting for your family. My time Dining at this time is a mess.

Family time dining used to be a program pre-covid where families would sign up to eat at the time time as  the regular early sitting, and the waiters would bring the children's food quickly.  And the parents would eat their appetizers, and the kids would get their main course, and before the kids got antsy and started to drive everyone nuts in the dining room, the kids club staff would come  and collect the children from the dining room, take them to the kids club so the parents could eat the rest of your meal in peace (as could all the other diners) and the parents could retrieve the children from the kids club after dinner.  It sounded like an amazing program (we've never sailed RC yet so I don't know for sure).

I was promised when we booked that we were signed up for family time dining.  And then RC cancelled my sailing accidentally because they claimed I had a balance, but it turned out the whole thing was  a computer error and while checking on that, the consultant promised me again we were signed up for family dining.  But people on the forums have stated that it isn't running, so I believe the forums.  Our booking shows we are signed up for early dining, so hopefully we can at least avoid the disaster that anytime dining currently is.  But my point earlier was that in my experience the consultants (on all of the lines actually) can be confused and a TA will keep calling until they find someone competent to speak to at RC to fix the OP's issue.

But thanks to the people upthread, because I'm chuckling thinking about what would happen if I just sent my 3 year old out unsupervised to wander the ship while I finished my dinner.  She'd probably start trying to bang on a piano, go in the gift shop and play with everything and cause an enormous amount of mayhem.  I'm sure we'd be thrown off the ship at the very next port.

You have recent experience with this?

Had MTD on the following:

Oct 2021 Oasis - no issues

Dec 2021 Anthem - no issues

Dec 2021 (NYE) Anthem - no issues

Mar 2022 Enchantment - no issues

May 2022 Anthem TA - no issues

I should have listened to Jimbo.  😄

Thanks for your report.

Makes perfect sense. Back then all Royals ships were not in service plus they were sailing only at 50 to 70 percent full of passengers.

Now that all the ships are in service, and with what crew they have spread even thinner with all the ships sailing with at or near 100 percent full of passengers.

They don't have enough crew on all their ships now to correctly service the My Time Dining at this time.

Once they get all their ships with 100 percent crew back then My Time Dining will be successful again.

Until then it will suffer.
