I was talking with DH at dinner last night about this discussion. He is a non-dancer, there was a pre-nup. agreement about this, but he says he would go to a class on-board if I really really wanted to do it. Hmmm…he DID dance with our daughter at her wedding…But I have to agree with @Camgirl. I don’t want to get out on the dance floor and have people snickering at us. Public humiliation is the biggest “no no” for my DH. There is a famous saxophonist who embarrassed him once and now he refuses to attend any of his concerts! Remember at the ice rink when they had beginners skate time, and then fast skate?

When you are on the floor you are a dancer. None of the other dancers will snicker - we were all there once. If people watching snicker don’t pay them any mind. They are not dancers. They don’t have the courage to step foot on the floor.  Mister and I took a quickstep lesson (our very first) on our crossing. It was an absolute basic step. That night we did a quickstep with the absolute basic step - no one snickered or if they did we didn’t notice because we were THRILLED that we got out there and danced. I hope you’re on our voyage and crossing. We’ll all dance together!

@Tonopah We’re crossing Dec. 15. Then doing the July 4 NY - Boston 2023. I would love to meet and sit and knit/crochet and talk!

Ah, well. We will miss you by about a month. We board on November 1 and disembark on the 20th.

I think there is positive and negative 'feedback'.

A busy dancefoor encourages more dancers even beginners who like to hide in the crowd.

An empty dance floor, puts off all but the best.

One good thing about dance hosts even if only a few were on floor they didn't make look like an exhibition.
