Of the ports: Cabo, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta.  Which one is the best for the whale watching excursion in January? TIA

I would do Cabo.  I don't know if Cabo is better for whale watching than the other two, but I find more to do in Mazatlan and PV, so I am happier to spend the time on the water in Cabo. 

 

For the same reason, Cabo is where I recommend people take a beach day -- in my never humble opinion, there isn't a lot to do in Cabo.

Definitely Cabo. PV isn't bad, but Cabo is clearly better.

Cabo for Gray Whales, Puerto Vallarta for Humpback Whales.

Thanks Y'all. We'll be on a B2B in January that makes 2 stops in Cabo. So that might just work out. 

I was hoping for warm weather in Cabo to take a beach day.... But upon further research.. Looks like above 70 degrees aren't norm until PV. 😭

Where did you see that? Cabo's average is 80° in January. It can get to the lower 70's, but it can also be in the mid 80's, hence the average.

Maybe we just got lucky. We saw whales from the ship while in Cabo.
