Arrivecan for Cruise from Vancouver to LA stopping in Victoria

We are on a Princess Cruise departing from Vancouver to LA in the fall, stopping in Victoria.  Does anyone know if we have to complete an Arrivecan for that?   From what I can see on the canadian government website, if we leave from a Canadian port, travel through non-canadian water and stop in a Canadian port, we have to complete it.   From the map, there is a chance we will enter US waters.

Thinking I will complete arrivecan just in case, but was looking for other opinions???

My understanding is that there would need to be a port of call in the US before arriving in Victoria to trigger the requirement to complete the app. Passing very briefly through US waters - if in fact you do - would not trigger the requirement.

Looks like you  have to fill in ARRIVECAN along with your vaccination status

if you hit a US port  before Victoria

Does the cruise go from Vancouver to Victoria then to the USA?

It is  the order the ports  are on your itinerary

Providing proof of vaccination

You’re required to upload your proof of vaccination into ArriveCAN before:

you enter Canada, or

embarking on a cruise that is travelling outside Canadian waters (for example, if docking in the United States for a shore excursion) or a cruise, or

embarking on a cruise that will dock in Canada at any point in the itinerary

This applies to all travellers, including Canadians. ArriveCAN is mandatory and free for all travellers entering Canada, regardless of citizenship or vaccination status.

There is speculation on our roll call -  Solstice from Vancouver to LA that the ship will be in International waters prior to Victoria (so the casino can open) and that would trigger a 2nd ArrivCan. I imagine people will enter this 2nd trip just incase 🤔 Im fairly confident from the helpful folks here that it is not required.

Our itinerary is Vancouver, Victoria then US

By way of comparison, if you fly from Halifax to Toronto, more than half of your flight will be spent in US airspace, but you aren't required to use ArriveCAN prior to your arrival in Toronto. Whether entering US airspace or territorial waters, unless your flight/cruise stops at a US (air)port along the way, there is no need to make an ArriveCAN submission.

For our sailing that stops in Victoria and then ends in Vancouver next week - I messed up and put in the vancouver port as our port of entry.  I was thinking where we end and get off vs. get out and browse for 6 hours. I don't see a way to start another trip for the first stop in Victoria. Are we going to need that to get off of the ship?

Just answered my own question, had to delete the trip and start over. Guessing we will have to fill out another on before getting off the boat in Vancouver.

Good to see you found the solution,

As for Vancouver, you won't need to make another submission as your port of arrival in Canada is Victoria. Some people are under the impression that if your cruise ship passes through US territorial waters on the way from Victoria to Vancouver, you need to use ArriveCAN again, but that would only apply if the ship stopped at a US port before arriving in Vancouver. See post #8 above.
