cruisetilidrop Posted August 15, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 15, 2022 We are on a cruise in July 2023. Considering taking the ship transfer or train from Vancouver to Seattle. Any suggestions on where to stay and what to see while in Seattle area. Can rent a car if necessary. Love culture and natural scenery. Thank you. Rare OneSixtyToOne Posted August 19, 2022 #2 Share Posted August 19, 2022 (edited) Last time there we stayed at the Edgewater Hotel. Built on a pier it is right next to the cruise ship port, the ferry to Victoria, and close to the Aquarium. Plenty of attractions in Seattle. If you’re a history buff the underground city tour is really interesting. The aquarium is first rate as is the art museum, and Pike’s Place Market is a must see. We spent several days there without the need of a car. The monorail from the World’s Fair stops in a mall downtown and takes you to the Space Needle and the fair site which has a SCI-Fi and music museum. Urban trekker Posted August 19, 2022 #4 Share Posted August 19, 2022 Just a clarification - the Edgewater hotel is next to Pier 66 which is used by Norwegian and it's brand of ships. Most other cruise lines use Pier 91 which is about 2 miles from town and has little or no hotels close by.
Glaciers Posted August 19, 2022 #5 Share Posted August 19, 2022 If departing from Pier 66, the Marriott and Edgewater are very close. I don’t like those for a few days of exploring as most of the venues are up hill. Staying downtown near the Westlake Center gives you transportation options in the light rail and monorail and most of downtown is walkable. If you’re budget allows we love the Inn at the Market. Another consideration is the MLB All-Star game is mid July in Seattle this next year. Thousands of more folks in town so you may need to make a decision sooner than later. You will get specific hotel suggestions if you can mention a budget.

Thanks for reminding folks (including me) about this! : )
Suzanne123 Posted August 20, 2022 #7 Share Posted August 20, 2022 If you have the time, consider doing one of the all day tours to Mt. Rainier. https://www.toursnorthwest.com. Amazing scenery. Also, I can recommend Shutter Tours for a nice tour of Seattle and Snoqualmie Falls. https://www.shuttertours.com
